Look...all hype & BS aside, is there anything that will effectively and substantially improve the shatty Z10 battery life? I know I've heard of extended-life batteries and external chargers but don't know if anything works.

Contemplating another BB10 device, and because the Z30's earpiece volume is too low...it's down to either the Z10 or Q10, and I need the larger Z10 screen. But...I also remember having to plug it in to charge a little over halfway through my workday too.

Great question. I love my Z10, but am disappointed with the rapidity with which the battery runs down with moderate every day usage. Right now I am looking at buying an extended life replacement battery with @ 2600 mAh. I am considering this route rather than a second BlackBerry LS1 1800 mAh battery just to avoid having to swap the two 1800's back and forth on a daily business. Would welcome some input on this from the BlackBerry Community. Thanks.

To be honest, no, there is no solution. I bought the Z10, and by tweaking al settings for maximum battery, it lasts me through the day. I unplug the phone at 8.00 and put it back in the power at 00.00. With wifi most of the day, it'll last very easily. On very busy days, I brought it down to 20% or less battery so still enough. I also have a q10 and recently the Z30. Right now, after a day if work and moderate use, the battery is still at 75% left, just as the Q10 would have been. This was the biggest reason to actually get the other phones in the first place.

I just got the z30 because of z10 battery and it's night and day. Phone came off charger at 9 am and by midnight still had 35%, z10 would have required charging on drive home. Radios in z30 are better as well, I get service in areas I didn't before and wifi connection doesn't drop. I will keep my z10 as a backup, but the z30 definitely blows the z10 away.

My first pick would have been the Z30 because of screen real estate and battery life, but alas, the earpiece speaker volume is just not sufficient for my "phone ear" since I have some hearing issues due to an accident as a child. Really bummed too, because it had everything else that I wanted. Why BlackBerry made the Z30 so hard to hear from...especially in real-life, day-to-day use which commonly puts us outside or in rather loud environments, is beyond me. I guess if you're a bunny-eared teenager, that's not an issue...but not for those over the middle age line like me. Oh well...

Turn off LTE and use 3G. My buddy was in Asia, and after doing that, it went from 8 hours to two days without charging.

And that's what worked for me with extremely heavy use....plus an additional battery.

And enjoy the slug slow 3G data speeds compared to the speed of LTE? That's a huge leap backwards. I'll pass.

    Thanks though!

Threads like these are the most crazy,...how can someone not know about a $25 to $30 high capacity battery for the Z10 that yields some 24, 36,..48+ hours. Yet, they come to CB.com and complain about their Z10's battery under performing!

So, please don't take this the wrong way,...but if those that desire more "battery time" were to invest in the 4500mah battery,...promise they will not cry about no juice for at least 24 hours!

Again, don't take this wrong,...but the battery issue for the Z10 is done as far as the after market is concerned.

Keep an charger around at all times. And extra batteries. It's better than not using your device to its full potential.

There is no solution that is acceptable with the stock battery. If you don't mind the extra bulk then the physically bigger battery might be good for you.

Personally I'm just waiting for the Z30 to come down to a realistic price. As in 197 dollars. Or for a slider which I'd pay 20,000 for because I miss my 9810 sfm.

The ability to block calls would make the battery hassle worth it all but no joy there either.

Go to the quick settings menu and add location services to it. Turn location services off for most of the day and then only turn it on when you need it.

This has increased my battery life soooooooo much!

I just updated to 10.2.1.2102 and have heard that battery life has improved with this update....

My battery life is significantly better using 10.2.1 when compared to 10.2.0. I am a light user that could only make it to around 12-14 hours before I needed to charge it. Now, I can make it to at least 24 hours.

One caveat is that I changed the carrier that I use the Z10 on at the same time that I did the update. I don't think that the carrier change accounts for the 100% improvement, though.

My wife has a Z10 and I bought her a flip shell case that has the magnet in it, that puts the phone "to sleep". At the end of the day at 11pm, she's at 40%. This case does make a big difference. $20 on Crackberry.
