I know that many people had issues with Remote Access. But today my wife called asking if I can access a file from home because she had forgotten a PDF file that she needed. Sure enough I fired up file manager, accessed the folder she left it in, made a copy and email it to her with ease. Thanks BlackBerry, here's a positive note from a consumer to break some of the negative feedbacks.

My remote access never works for my wife as she still talks when I don't want her too.

I'm sure he'd need to have it always on with Blackberry Link open

BlackBerry Link doesn't need to be open.

Ah yes, I was thinking of the FIle Manager, which requires Link to be open.

    Remote Access doesn't require Link.

Yes computer always on with Battery backup in case of outage. I keep it on for this particular reason and to let my torrents finish my downloads so that I have something to watch after a long day at work.

I believe file manager only works while on same wifi signal.

what you described is an issue some people have with Remote File Access(RFA). some folks after linking pc with z10, only have access to thier PC when in wifi. they should have access to their PC without being connected to the wifi too. a solution for that is changing PC firewall access and doing a reboot of pc and z10 and it should work. in the File manager you will have at least 3 options(device, media card and PC)

Don't most people always keep their home computers on these days? I stopped shutting mind down 10 years ago when I first got high speed Internet. I have an external hard drive attached to it & I can access the files from tablets, tv's phones, etc in my home.

I love remote file access too!

When you guys talk about Remote File Access, are you referring to specific app downloadable from BB World? Which one?

It's baked in. Just need BlackBerry Link installed and allowed for remote access. Then on your BlackBerry 10 device open File Manager and switch from device to PC
    Thanks BlackBerry for Remote Access-img_00000998.png

If on LTE, access large files will use up a lot of data, correct ? Sorry, silly question again.

Yes on any data package, large files will eat up your data. On LTE it'll just seem faster. But in these kinds of situations if the file is important enough you will make the sacrifice. Or go on a wifi hotspot.

It also comes in handy going the other direction. I was out one night and was invited to go fishing with a friend the next morning but I don't have a license. I went to the ministry website, registered and paid for a day license, then downloaded the pdf file that I was to print out and have with me. Instead of saving it to my device or sd card, I simply saved it to my pc so when I got up in the morning, all I had to do was go print it.

    Very convenient tool.
