I have an AT&T grandfathered unlimited data plan so I can't use the built in tethering option. Anyone know of a workaround? Possible Android app sideload?

Thanks for link. From what I can tell this is only working on Verizon models. I haven't been able to get it to work on my AT&T phone following http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...84/index4.html

It has to be somewhere in the OS. I can use the same SIM on a rooted/custom ROM Note 2 and tether with the built in app.

Are you running official OS or leaked?

Also on that note, Custom ROM android devices usually have tethering break from carrier built in.

I turned off my phone and removed my sim card. Turned the phone back on and downloaded the bridge app from appworld....via wifi. Paired with my Playbook. Then I turned the phone back off and put the sim card back in and turned it on again. I am able to use the bridge browser with my Z10 without any additional tethering fee from ATT.

I do hope they get the other functions back on the bridged Playbook soon!

That only works for the Playbook though, correct? I'm looking to open the built-in WiFi Access Point and USB tethering.

Try installing the latest leak, see if that solves your issue

I tried the latest leak. No help. The problem appears to be in the default APN profile. We can't add new profiles or edit the existing since they are locked by the OS.

Old post but this is my same issue. Are there any android ports that would allow us grandfathered AT&T people to tether/hotspot?

Www.rroyy.com offers a modified 'blackberry bridge' application you can download in lieu of the one offered by Blackbery World. I have been using it for a year with my playbook and ATT 9900 which has unlimited world wide data. Works great when traveling outside the USA.

That may work good for PB tethering, but any work around a for laptop/ipad tethering or hotspot? The actual TETHER app I used on my 9810 isn't supported for BB10

Not as easy as it sounds. ETF charges some carriers suck in your location or where you go. That is not the answer.

You can but most US carriers charge more to use it or it won't work.

I didn't realize that. Most Canadian carriers allow tethering without charge....I think they relish the thought of billing the users for going over their allocations. ;-)

Yes. I still believe we pay x amount for x amount of data and it shouldn't matter how we consume the data or on what device but the carriers don't see it that way.

I agree. I think Canada's regulatory body legislated this a few years ago. Just a few days ago they capped what the maximum amount that the carriers can charge for overages as well. After 90 days we can unlock our phones to make them more portable to other, albeit limited choices , carriers.

Well just realized that because I switched plans I can no longer tether with rogers unless I Downgrade my 6gb plan to 5gb. How this make sense is beyond me. Anyone have work around methods for z10 on rogers?
