As title says, do you think this will be added in a future update? Especially with the headless APIs coming soon I would rather I know what's running and what's not. Like task manager on windows, doesn't have to be that technical though.
Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere.

I'd like to see this also! At the very least an option under settings, as was done on BBOS 7

I also hope so. Just isn't a complete business phone without the ability to do so.

Well right now it isn't needed. But yes, when we get headless apps or services, the os will need some type of manager.

I found a sideload called advanced task manager. And I was surprised to find that some of my side loaded apps were silently running with full permissions! Scary.

Apps.goodereader.com has it. There's a bug with it though you need to hit refresh and you'll see the running apps only for a split second. You can also hit process to see running apps. It allows you to uninstall sideloads and move them from device to sd card. For example I saw TV guide app running with full permissions. Like to record voice, GPS location etc...shady.

It's critical for security and something I would expect from blackberry. How am i supposed to know the KGB or whoever isn't developing fart apps to get my GPS and camera/mic access? Especially with headless apps coming. I'm not being paranoid. It's common sense.

Good point. It would also help troubleshooting battery drain.

I got the latest version from the google play store, v3.1.3 and it seems to work great for killing android apps & stopping android services.

I have it setup with 'autokill' so that when my screen is off for 1 hour any of the android apps i have pre-selected will be killed (if still running) because I've noticed that a few android apps i have opened so far were still running in the background even after i had closed the app.

As for the bug, i'm not sure if the option is in the older version on GoodeReader but in v3.1.3 there is an option in the settings to use the Classic 'Old UI' once i selected that running apps are visible. So it looks like the bug is caused by the New UI which i very much prefer but i can live with the Old Style, maybe the new style will work properly in the JB 4.2.2 runtime.

I haven't tried uninstalling of apps or the 'Move to SD Card' feature yet.

Here is a link to the .apk, for anyone that wants to try it.

This is the app, as there are quite a few with similar a name.

I don't know but assume it will be for native apps only, I was addressing the op asking if there will be one.

There is a free app in BlackBerry World called Task Manager by amitghosh that let's you view the headless android apps that are running and let's you kill them.
I'd pay for a native BlackBerry Task Manager.

A little confused, and maybe it's because I'm coming from Android and not BBerry, previously. But in Android, a task manager is -- essentially -- pointless. Now maybe in OS 10 you really can kill an Android app, but under Android, it will just restart any force-stopped app. if it feels like it. Again, not really sure how OS 10 manages apps.

This is the only way we can see what (android) apps are running in the background. Yes, many of them will restart but some will not. The good thing about it is that we can see what it is and can make a better decision if we want to keep it or delete the app.

There is a sideload called advanced task manager that has the option to auto kill the task if it loads too.

I am waiting for the BlackBerry update that has a task manager built in. Hopefully 10.2 comes out with it soon.
