If I purchased a Z10 privately would I just need to swap the SIM from my 9900 into it to activate? Do I also need to call my carrier (att) and give them the IMEI number? I'm on a BIS plan so does that need to be changed before it would work? Thanks for the help!

With bb10, you won't need bis. just make sure you have the right sim size. BB10 won't use legacy plans... you have to change it.

You'd need to give AT&T a phone call, if not stop by a store. Your 9900 is not LTE capable so you may need a new SIM card.

Well the Z10 uses a LTE micro sim and the 9900 uses the regular one.
But you could go to ATT and see if they will give you one.
I would call ATT and make sure about the plan, but I didn't have any problems switching.

Get the right SIM card and change your plan from BIS to regular data
