Anyone else here experience not being able to swipe up to unlock the phone when the phone is on an email or text message view?

If you are in home screen and you lock the phone, you can unlock the phone by swiping up. But if you are viewing an email or text message then lock the phone, you can't just swipe up. You have to swipe up twice. The first swipe only turns the screen on.

Can someone with a 10.1 check if this was fixed?

one swipe to unlock and get back into the email in 10.1

10.1 also will feature the one button unlocking with the power button!

swipe to unlock seems to be improved with the 10.1 leak... just tested with an email and it unlocked in 1 swipe.. but prior to 10.1 i remember sometimes the screen would refuse to unlock after many numerous swipes.. quite embarassing especially when youre purposely trying to show off the swipe to unlock lol

Thats great! Thanks for your response. It was getting tedious having to swipe up twice.

Since updating to 10.1, when my device is password locked... As soon as I swipe it brings up the keyboard to enter my password. How do I (if it's possible) get it back to the way it was, where you have to swipe all the way 3/4 of the screen before bringing up the keyboard to type your password?

I use this gesture every day to check the time, new notifications, etc and I don't have to press the hardware button. Now, I am kinda forced to reach over to the hardware button because my phone may or may not be password locked.

The updated OS ruined this for me

I noticed that too. There are no settings to change this.

I liked it too, just to be able to peek what kind of message I got.

The lock screen and password is backwards now.

In 10.1 just swipe up a little and don't let your finger leave the screen. Then you can check the time and notifications...when there's nothing of interest just swipe back down and the phone will go back to sleep, otherwise continue your swipe up to unlock. seems perfect for me?

Yes we know that, but did you try this if you have device password enabled?

My device is password enabled, but I must admit, the password hardly ever kicks in as it is set for half an hour and I rarely let it sit for that long :-)

I'm going to have to restrain myself to test :-)

It's my work email that requires me to have a device password. I can't turn it off and the maximum idle time is 15 minutes.

You can lock by holding the power button and then press lock on the screen.

Sorry, my original post was for 10.1. That has since been fixed. But now every time my phone gets password locked, and when I want to do the peek gesture, the moment I touch the screen it shows me the password screen. When all I want to do is just check the time and what kind of notification I got, not to unlock the phone.

I hope they put it back in future updates. I loved being able to slide my phone half way out of my pocket, slide my finger just a little bit up onto the screen to peek at the time or at the notifications. Now it just takes me to the password screen immediately.

Glad I'm not the only one having this issue. I miss that feature too. It was nice to peek at what notifications I had and choose from there whether to unlock the device or if they can wait. Hope it comes back.

Peek works as long as the phone hasn't locked itself. How about on your end? I'm glad others are having this issue. I thought I got two bad loads.

Sorry guys but my original post has been fixed, but since the new update, there has been a new glitch.

If your phone gets locked by password, you cannot swipe up to peek. It automatically asks you to put in a password.

My phone is password locked and usually I swipe up to get get password screen. Today when I swipe up it gives me a black screen and not my password screen. I really don't want to take it out of its otter box to pull battery. I believe it is up to date software wise. Any help?
