So today I started emailing a bunch of companies about porting Orr making a native app for BlackBerry. One of those was Starbucks. And this is what they said.

Is it a little strange they said. " we will not support the BlackBerry platform" but wait till it "evolves" I'm guessing that's a way of saying.. never.. right??

    What do you think?

I would guess that they are saying no for now, but, maybe in the future if the platform does well...

Truly disappointed. They have very little interest in "us" BlackBerry users. I guess in the end of the day it's always about money.

I get so confused with the app dilemma. In one instance, people get upset that the new OS hasn't attracted any developers. But in the next they argue that the OS is new and that's the reason for the issues.

Developers didn't want to develop for BBOS as they likely felt is was dying off. Now, they want to wait for BB10 to grow.

We agree that BB10 is in its early stages. Should we be upset that developers also see this and aren't chomping at the bit to put resources into apps at this point?

We will not be developing any time soon. Wait till the platform grows. -___-

Haha @ "Blackberry" with the but only one capitalized R.

I had the Starbucks app on my iPod touch, and I don't really understand why it's important. The only time I used it was back in December/January, when I had a whole bunch of Starbucks cards that I had gotten for my birthday and Christmas. I deleted it after I used up my gift cards.

I guess it's like a lot of other apps...I don't understand why they're important, and they don't seem all that useful to me, but if people want them, BlackBerry should try and get them on board.

No loss here in Canada, Starbucks sucks compared to Tim Hortons. So the no interest is mutual!

Kind of off topic, but I know if I was a developer, I would simply port over my android app as it would be easy enough to do, and would be a great way to gage interest. The frustrating part is every time cb posts an app review that is bank android port, everyone jumps on the, it's an android app, no way. When we do that, all we ate doing is telling the developer there is no business here. We seem to be shooting ourselves in the foot.

I for one am downloading every free app crackberry has posted. I want the developers to feel they can get some good business here. I've also purchased most of the 99 cent apps that cb has posted. I may not be keeping the majority of these apps on my phone, but it counts as a download for the dev and hopefully enough will do it so that it becomes worthwhile for the developer to produce for BlackBerry.

If possible, I would never buy coffee from Starbucks.

Sure, they bought green coffee beans from Indonesian grower too and shipped it back to US for roasting, then shipped the roasted beans back to STARBUCKS Indonesia. The whole lead time took 3 months as least.

I prefer my beans fresh from local roaster.

Does the Android runtime version make a difference when porting Android apps?

If yes then we might see more Android ports once we get the new Android runtime in 10.2.

    Does that make sense?
