This one always works for me. Hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. first, you will see the loading screen (blue square with bb logo in the middle) . When you see this, do not let go of the power button. Then the phone will reboot again, then the led will turn red. Then it will show again the loading screen. Then you can finally let the power button go.

My browser was frozen and I searched the forum for help. I really didn't want to reset my phone.
I found a couple useful tips and one actually worked for me. It was a huge relief for me.

Let it be known that I am not taking any credit for these solutions.

    Solution 1:
Many threads suggest that you simply type in Google
in the address bar and this somehow solves the problem. That worked for many but not for me.

    Solution 2:
Change your home page to about:blank. (open browser, click on settings - via the 3 dots at bottom right of screen, open display and actions. Then in field type in about:blank)
    Go to privacy and security.
    Clear cookies and history.
    Turn off cookies
    Close browser
Reopen browser and change the home page back to your preference.
    Clear cookies and history again
    Turn on cookies

Problem solved. Hope this helps guys. It sure beats the stress of having to factory reset the device.

I had this problem on the majority of websites. The latest Telus OS update has fixed it.

nothing worked for me. had to do a full wipe
i thought the browser was just ok because i had problems using a few important sites that i use but after the freezing i got to say i am kind of disappointed with it. the only positive experience i had with it was the use of the keyboard shortcuts.

Thanks for posting. Method #2 worked, though it seems crazy that it did.

I wish I had seen this before I bought an anti virus scanning program because I thought I must have corrupted my browser.

#2 worked for me. Thank you for posting them!

My browser started freezing out of nowhere and only on certain sites, like Google and Facebook. I changed the search engine to Bing and that helped a little but it still froze. Luckily the reset instructions for #2 did the trick. Very odd experience though.

After 5 days days with no browser I finally found this thread. Tried both solutions but
Still not working!! I can't click on the 3 dots and it is completely frozen...beyond frustrated!!!
I called Rogers but they have no clue how to fix browser . Had my Z10 for 4 months with no problems and no sideloaded apps.
I did add media card as my storage was almost full so got that resolved, also did back up and did the latest update to 10.1.0.4181

Help!! I need my browser to work!!

PS...also pulled battery and hard reset a few times but didn't help.

2nd option worked for me. I could open Browser but when Google came up it wouldn't let me touch the search bar. Did the steps and changed to Bing. Works fine now. Thanks!

FYI - did as KR2013 suggested (Post No. 25), except restored App Data only and it worked.

I had the inability to access "action and display" in browser settings menu on z10.

    Thanks.

Same here. I cannot afford a wipe, and don't trust the backup/restore utility.

I've googled this to death and tried a variety of solutions, to no avail. All I can hope is that this problem gets greater visibility, and a fix comes out that works for everyone....

Solution 2 just worked for me. Follow it verbatim but close the browser at the very end before trying anything.

Next time you wipe remove the SD card. Reinstall when reload is complete.
