Having been well aware that for setup and apps download I would use lots of data, I loaded 250 megs once-off.The carrier added free100 megs for upgrade (total 350 megs). But I was shocked to see 0 megs balance -350megs already used since March 8 - on my z10! So how much data do users spend on average per month? I'm asking because my plan is on ONLY 120 MEGS per month.

If I were you I'd get more or make sure you are connected to wifi. The times they are a changing . I think I have 1 gig but my habits will be different than yours.

I used under 400mb my first month. I take advantage of WIFI where ever I am and never stream or download on my data plan.

I have used 200-250 megs in about two weeks, though it is hard to tell with EE (it seems to give a different figure every time I check) and I am quite careful about downloading things.

I come from an iphone 3GS and haven't noticed any real differences in data useage. If you're coming from an older Blackberry however, since it seems they used to have data compression as standard, if you have the same data use habits you will defintely use a lot more data on Z10.

120 seems too little - I had 500mb when I was using my iphone and regularly went a bit over. With Z10 i've gone up to 1GB.

The first month mine was a bit higher than usual but I must say that for the month of March I see no big difference when compared to my previous Bold.

The first month usually has more activity since you are loading things up and learning how to use it. It's all shiny and new, and doesn't leave the hand much.

Whenever I get a new device, I try to keep it on wifi as much as possible. That seems to help with data usage. After the first month or two, I don't think about which connection it is using (although I'm more trained to use wifi now) and the new car smell has slightly faded.

Use WIFI whenever you can and never download updates or purchase apps over the network. Since most apps are in the MB range and some games are 1to 2GBs.

I'm shocked that you guys are in the megs for the data usage.... I have a 4gb plan and i use the crud out of it it's an additional 45 bucks a month but yeah. My wife likes to stream her type of music since I like heavy metal and she doesn't have a full music library yet. It keeps the wife happy and me from messing with my phone while driving. I use wifi of course as I can when it comes to downloading large files or what not. I tend to download PDF's a lot for reading on the go (shoot i forgot to mention i do this on my 8960). Still waiting to upgrade. Anyways, I would suggest that you start with a higher plan and work down to your data usages in order to avoid overages. If not then you could always back date your plan to cover for those overages.

350 megs in 2 weeks sounds about right, its recommended to get at least 1gb because theres no data compression anymore.

I have a 1 GB plan, but I could probably do with less as my usual haunts all have Wi-Fi.

    2GB = $25 in Belgium
    5Gb + unlimited calls and texts= $90

I think if you are willing to spend the money to get a high end device like the Z10 , then it is reasonable to find a plan for at least 1 gig per month to fully utilise its full potential and for peace of mind , For the BB10 platform, this will likely be the norm and esp if the user start loading up on more apps. When you are out and about , wi fi can be reliably depended on.
For me, I managed to negotiate an upgrade to 6 gig pm from 1 gig when I decided to get the Z10., This is mainly for peace of mind and I do like to check the occasional youtube clips etc and gps maps and mainly also the fact the wi-fi usage at my place of work is severely restricted.

Same here in Italy. I used to be on a 2GB monthly plan which was enough for my other handsets, but since I switched my SIM to the Z10 I noticed an increased data usage and upgraded to 5GB. Should be fine now!

I'm using about 700Mb a month, but that is what I was using when I had my Android device.
So there is no change in my usage.
I'm on a 1Gb plan and only once came close to using it all in the month.

I'm not sure about the exchange rates re: rand and others . But here in SA, and hugely dependent on the carrier contracted on, 1GB = R149, 2GB = R279. My current carrier is perceived as the most costly but one of the mostadvanced in terms of coverage. Major naivety of mine was the mind-set still on BIS and the compression of data, etc.

(Here we go again) Wifi is only a good alternative with mobile data plan, if you are getting it free... but if you are paying your wifi (at home or even at some shop that you need to buy coffee to get "free" wifi), the data you are consuming are the same...

I'm a heavy user. I used over 2gb per month with my 9900. In almost 2 weeks, I've used almost 2gb with the Z10. I expect to run over 5gb per month, with a 6gb plan.

I have used 800 MB so far this month, I am on wifi at work but no wifi at home. I try to downlad and update only at work.

I have however had to set up my phone twice as my first Z10 had a dead row of pixels on the screen so I am hoping data usage comes down...
