Save it. Print it. With the date. You'll be glad you did in the event that you need it

I'm with rogers and I have never gotten charged for any incoming text message while I was roaming.

If you are paranoid about it, you could always speak to a supervisor or get the operator id number.

Just got off a cruise. Turned off data roaming. Put my phone on Wi-Fi.

But I was on vacation, I left my phone off for most of the trip.

I'm with Rogers and only got charged for sending SMS not receiving. I got charged 0.010 cents per message sent buy they waived it when I called retentions. I also made a couple of calls the bill was 150.99 on top of my regular bill. No big deal.

Wifi on ships is safe to use, disable you're antenna for cellular, and only have wifi on, when u connect to ships wifi, you get a message to connect to a hotspot, many ships have a simple connect page where u hit connect and you're off. Sometimes you have to register and after that it's free, or u have to register and buy a limited time. Normally if u connect the ships wifi a free prompt page pops up and you can read te terms of use. One tip though, don't.... really don't use the cellular network for calling texting or whatever, cause they clean out you're wallet!!!!!!!!

No suprises with this - Data (time) balance is shown at logon. You pay in advance. Good email, SLOW transfer speed over service. EXPECT VERY SLOW TRANSFER RATE!!!!! I liked service though.

Find out from the cruise line has free wifi and Skype or BBM. When you are in land make sure you have a roaming travel pack for that region or have u our phone unlocked and buy a SIN from a local carrier.

Yes i bought a talk and text plan. I'll use the ships satellite for Internet it's cheaper than the plans Rogers offers.

Lol, nothing. You forget we have an oligopoly in Canada. The fact you have been their customer for 20 years means nothing.

I found the hard way what data roaming charges for using "Cellular at Sea" data on a cruise ship is. My phone was "locked" to roam on AT&T while I was at port (Puerto Rico - hence US providers available) as I had US data pack applied (I'm with Rogers). But I forgot to turn it off at night when ship sail away and got woken up by the phone around 4am when I received an email. Checked phone - was latched on "Cellular at Sea" despite manual selection of network locked to AT&T! I guess since "cellular at sea" is a joint venture between AT&T and others it 'decided' I'm on AT&T and allowed roaming data connection. Or a bug that allowed roaming data from different than the manually selected carrier. The result was just over $50 for 3.3MB data (or $15/MB). Quite a rip off indeed! My recommendation is to turn airplane mode on or at least data roaming off when sailing away from port to avoid unpleasant surprises when you get your phone bill later.
