    Default Removable battery / media

Is there any indication of whether RIM is going to have a removable battery and sd card on the BB10 phones?

The format of the alpha does lead towards an answer of "no" in both cases...

It does seem that the makers of all devices are so keen to have different price points for different capacities that they become over-defensive of their flagship size. In other words "If we put a memory card slot in our 8Gb device, nobody will buy our 16Gb device".

Which is understandable, but in my view shortsighted. Instead of a range of 8/16/32Gb, why not have "up to 40"/"up to 48"/"up to 64" sizes? The only company that I see doing this is Sandisk with their mp3 players - their reasons are clear enough, I suppose!

I think in Rim's case they might include an sd card simply because it would simplify their inventory concerns, they don't know for sure of the ratio of 16:32:64 that people would want so they could go with just 16 and include an sd card slot to give more flexibility.

They are already going to need to do regional variations to account for LTE bands being used by VZW, AT&T, RoW which will increase the amount of variants right from the outset anyway.

Not necessarily. Didn't RIM, a few months ago, purchase a company who has technology that allows 1 phone to be able to adapt/use multiple different types of networks?

Am I right about that, or did I just make that up?

I just hope if they do not include a sd slot that the on board will be like it...just drag and drop. No software needed like itunes to put on songs etc..

I really Really hope they give us a removable battery. I'm a heavy user and away from a charging source many days. It is so handy to be able to carry a spare battery to throw in halfway through the day and have a fresh battery.
I don't want to have to carry around one of those big clunky 'chargers' like I see iphone people using

I have long been a blackberry supporter, but not sure I will continue onto OS10 if I can't swap battery. Do any droids have removable batteries?

    I wholeheartedly agree.
That is one little something that keeps us strong, that freedom we have when it comes to file management. I should stay optional, just the way it is now. I've only used itunes once on my bb.

I would not buy a phone w.o. a removable battery. For heavy users, the battery life will expire long before the phone and the battery would need to be replaced. I would be "cooked" if my battery went out and I couldn't put in a spare late in the day.
As for a memory card, while that would be better than not - probably wouldn't be a deal killer like not having a removable battery.
BB 9700 -- wife replaced her dying BB 8900 w. HTC 4G Slide 8/11. TM had no "up-to-date" BB at the time.
T-Mobile U.S. (Waiting til next April to see whether to stick w. BB or go Android - if my phone lasts that long)

Exactly. I'll stick with my 9900 or maybe jump ship to a droid with removable battery (if there are any?)

Couldn't agree more; no removable battery = deal breaker for me.

Re droids, Samsung and HTC seem to have them (e.g, SIII, Nexus, One, Rezound).

Is there any way we can get our comments to RIM? I've been a long time pro Blackberry user & promoter, but this would definitely be a deal breaker....

Are you kidding? Daily battery pulls are a mainstay of any Blackberry device. What makes you think things will change?

I hope that would change with BB10, RIM had better not take it away until well proven in the real world.

Not sure if anyone would pay attention but a couple of methods *might* be worth a shot.
