    You have to have a backup, all though BlackBerry Link on your computer. If you "restore" and don't have a backup file, it will restore your phone to the factory default settings.. not good unless you want a fresh start.

    If you open BlackBerry Link read the help that's built in. It explains full and partial back ups and restores.
