Now that T-Mobile has sort of announced their launch/availability date, I am itching to go pick up a Z10 even though I am not due for an upgrade yet. I have a question for Kevin - if your sources can provide an answer. I kinda remember during the big BB10 launch the White Z10 was mentioned as a launch exclusive to Verizon. This I take to typically mean, Verizon gets it first (launch) and then after a few months/weeks the other service providers will get their hands on it. So what I want to know is "Kevin is this what you are hearing from your sources in the big house?".

ps. "Random people" if you don't know the answer don't give me your guesses as answers or your hear says. If you don't know the answer say IDK and move on...

It's exclusive. First paragraph in bold on their website.

The only way to get a white Z10 for either AT&T or T-Mobile in the states would be to order an unlocked one. GSMNation has them right now for 689.00. Many posters have confirmed they work on the T-Mobile network. I just couldn't stomach paying that much for a phone with the US launch around the corner.

@jcraig - yeah, I am also loathe to spend that much for a phone.

@bintheredundat - I am aware what verizon says on their page. I expect them to say that even if it is a launch exclusive, it is still exclusive to them at the moment. Which is why I wanted extra info from "The Big House", is this an all out exclusive like At&T had with Iphone for 5 years or is this an exclusive limited to a few months.

You do realize that you're paying much more than that for the phone when you get it on contract?

If you're with TMO ... look at the $30/mo off-contract plan. It will pay for the difference in phone cost in 8 months. The 50/mo off contract plan will pay for the difference in 10 months.

If you don't want a verizon one and you're dead set on getting a white z10 you could always buy a unlocked device from a Canadian retailer (Rogers/Fido/Telus/Futureshop) and pop in the tmobile sim.

Yes, but if I get it through the internets and it should break or some foul fate befall it, I'm pretty much SOL. But I can get an extended warranty for piece of mind from T-Mobile. Plus splitting out a large amount over monthly payments is a lot easier to justify than dropping a giant sum on the front end.

Thanks Marc, I will look into the $30/mo or $50/mo off contract plans. I get a discount on account of the company/agency I work with so I always figured that that savings over 2 years will be such that I end up paying just enough for the phone. If I keep the phone for more than two years then obviously I am losing out. But I haven't run the numbers to see if I come out even. I should do that.

I was kind of hoping the exclusivity of the White version to Verizon would only be a few months but haven't heard any good news on that front since I'm also with T-mobile

I'm hoping it's not that hard to change the housing on the Z10 after some brave person takes apart their Z10. Then all we'd need is for the white parts to become available online somewhere...
