I've had 2 Z10's, the first was exchanged after a month due to the proximity/light sensor failing. 2 months later and it looks like my second handset has now developed the same issue.

I've never dropped the handset and only had official OS' installed.

Has anyone else experienced the same thing or is it just me?

First I've heard, but time for a bump to see if anyone else has helpful knowledge.

Man, this is the best sensor I've ever had on any device. If it goes, I'm not gonna be happy. Every time I turn on the handset, I praise it.

I'm completely out of dilithium crystals haha!

I'm going to send the phone for repair. It's a real annoyance when trying to make a phone call. Apart from that it's been great.

Do you mean the sensor that detects that the phone is next to your ear and disables the screen so you don't press virtual buttons with your cheek?
If so then make sure your screen is clean and any screen protector is not covering the sensor at the top right hand side of the screen.

Yup that is what I'm talking about.

The screen is clean and it's naked, no protector.

    1. You don't need that sensor
    2. It's a feature not a problem
    3. You're lying
    4. You're being paid by Apple
    5. I've never had that issue so you can't either

Just kidding. Funny that those sensors decided to pack it in on two different phones. Send it back.

I am having the same issues...had experienced it for a while and can't really figure out whether the MIME MIME USA Premium Glass Protection is the issue or not. Somehow I think it is.....its very annoying as I need to remember to manually lock the screen every time I take a call otherwise the "mute" or other buttons gets pressed by my face!

@OP are you using a screen protector? This very well could be the issue, also I am guessing you have tried cleaning the screen. I have seen many folks have proximity sensor issues with screen protectors even if the protector has the cut out for the proximity sensor.

I didn't use a screen protector and I cleaned the screen. I had the phone swapped. So far so good with the new handset.

I find that the sensor works like a charm... very responsive. never dialed something while talking on the phone. My only complain is that they should had put it more to the side, maybe to the left cause each time I pull the phone out of my pocket, I tend to cover the sensor so I don't see who is calling. Or they can do a software update and activate the sensor only after the call had been answered

When the sensor is working it's perfect... I've just been unfortunate enough for it to fail on me twice with 2 different phones

Best thing to do is to just get it sent away, BlackBerry will just replace the handset and you will have it back in a couple of days
