So i got my BB10 and a 4G sim card. My BB is from the UK and supports the bands in Saudi Arabia. The problem I'm having is everytime i select the LTE setting for the network technology, it reverts back to the HSPA+/UMTS setting. Is this a bug or am i missing something here?

This is a known issue with everyone (myself included) that purchased a UK version device and has attempted to use it in KSA. While my device didn't come yet I know I will be facing the same problem as you any many others as well. You are not the first to report this issue.

I have no idea what makes the phone revert back to the HSPA+ settings as the networks clearly support the same bands. Hopefully this is just a bug and it will be adjusted in the next OS update.

My Z10 did not get nearly as good LTE reception as my iPhone. LTE only 1/2 the time where the iPhone stayed on LTE almost 100%. I think they will have this fixed by the time it reaches the USA.

Yes, all 3 carriers now have 4G LTE running on the following bands:

    STC: 1800/2300
    Mobily: 1800/2600
    Zain: 1800

My Z10 did not get nearly as good LTE reception as my iPhone. LTE only 1/2 the time where the iPhone stayed on LTE almost 100%. I think they will have this fixed by the time it reaches the USA.
I don't think that's the same issue though, the issue is the phone automatically reverts back the settings to HSPA+/UMTS and NEVER connects to LTE. On my BB9700, if I select 3G only, and my device doesn't find 3G signal, I lose my signal - the phone doesn't try to force another Network Technology.

I'm planning to get my Z10 in Canada, because the Z10 model that they are selling in Saudi Arabia is not LTE. Will I face the same problem like yours in the future? I need your feedback if it is advisable to get the Z10 in Canada and will use it in Saudi Arabia. Thank you very much. Looking forward to your suggestions.

The Canadian Z10 will not work here (LTE) as the networks use different bands. With that said, the only model that has a chance of working here is the UK version, also known as the STL100-2.

This model uses the same frequency of LTE as the carriers here, but no one that I know of who's bought a UK version was able to activate LTE, yet. Reason? No one knows for sure but there is a "block" somewhere either from the carriers or BlackBerry's side. However, if you want to be "LTE-ready" in hope that it will someday work on UK Z10s then the STL100-2 is the one to be purchased. This is what I'm currently doing.

Basically a Canadian version Z10 will never work here on LTE, but the UK version has a much higher chance.

I hope it's a Software issue. So they can fix it!

I hope it's a software issue as well.

It's really a shame no one really knows the exact reason.

Soooo after months of waiting and searching and crying, the STL-002 can now connect to the 4G networks in saudi arabia, all thanks to the 10.1 update that has been rolling out!

So go download and install the update and enjoy the power of 4G
