Bear with me as I try to explain this properly.

Is there an app or some iteration of a program that allows one to send a text that can only be opened with a code of some sort?

Say I wanted to send my wife a text but only wanted her to be able to read it she would have to enter a code only she knew to open the text.

He is asking for a messaging app that requires you to enter a password before it is opened.

(or an app that requires a password before the message shows.)

    (reworded for clearity)

yup that's available on BES as part of the package I mentioned but I haven't seen it for the consumer market.

There are some encrypted message apps in BBW, but both users have to have the app installed

The Gallifreyan Translator van sort of do that. It's kind of a Dr. Who thing, but it works so long as both people have the same app. You type what you want in the top field, and the app translates it into Gallifreyan, which is a fictional language. You, can then send the image to the other person, and they can read it in their translator.

Thanks guys! I plan on trying out both the gallifreyen and the mobileenigma app. These look promising.

Thought I'd mention though, the mobileenigma app translated some words I typed then when I deciphered it back it turned it into Chinese letters.
