Went for a light trail ride alone on my BMW F800GS



Great trail ride only scary bit was going down the steep slope near the dam in the pix doesn't look as steep as it was, I was praying that the track went some where cos there'd be no way I'd make it back up the gravelly slope alone, thankfully it went into a lovely forest trail and eventually back to tarmac (so glad to see the tarmac again though )

I wasn't going to go out today but a mate of mine talked me into it as the weather was gorgeous. He on a 955i Tiger me on my F8GS.

We decided to use as little A road use as possible and to go from Wrexham to Aberdaron (which is a tiny cute village on the furthest point west on the Lleyn Peninsular (the arm of north Wales which points to Ireland).

All in all it worked out great, first stop after coming over the mountain road from Pentrefoelas to Llanrwst was

which at this time of year was resplendent in it's red "ivy" coat



Lovely coffee and lemon drizzle cake and a great chat with a couple on the next table.

Then over the mountain tops again to drop down to the "Ugly House" and a quick foray onto A road to Beddgelert, turning off towards Caernarfon and then onto another small mountain road to Nantlle. Before dropping down to Llanystumdwy before dropping towards Pwllhelli and on to Llanbedrog and the lovely lanes to Aberdaron for lunch.

Aberdaron was stunningly sunny



We sat in the Hen Blas caf� next to the bikes as they tick tick ticked while they cooled down and ordered lunch.

I went for the Aberdaron crab salad (which at �6.95 was a bargain) with a scone with jam and cream for pud washed down with a great cup of tea









After lunch we made our way along the coast road which is stunning over to Abersoch and back towards Criccieth



Through Porthmadog with the little steam trains chuffing away along the "cob"




Then over from Trawsfynydd along the excellent A4212 to Bala

For a cuppa at the lake at Bala



Before trundling home along the A5104 through Bryneglwys.

The F800GS is loosening up nicely and recorded 67.5 mpg for todays 200 miles which is fantastic!

Hinterlands is set in Aberystwyth, which is a lovely small seaside town that's home to the University of Wales Go there frequently for a ride out and an ice cream on the promenade

Well another awesome weekend weatherwise prompted another spin out along the lanes of north Wales

But only after a decent weekend breakfast



This time I fancied exploring more of the B5113 from Pentrefoelas so a quick spin along the A5104 to the A5 at Corwen then on to Pentrefoelas.

By the way if you're in Pentrefoelas there's a fantastic chocolatier business there that makes gorgeous hand made chocolates and the best ever hot chocolate with swirls of whipped cream.

However, we didn't partake this time, simply turning onto the B5113, which quickly climbs to present some stunning vistas. With the whole of Snowdonia National Park as a backdrop.






Continuing along the B5113 brought us to the top of Colwyn Bay, down past the Welsh Mountain Zoo and along through Mochdre brings us to Conwy, with its dominating castle (from Edward 1st died 1307) overlooking its beautiful harbour.

from there we took the small arch under the castle walls towards Treffriw, down the B5106.

Lovely and quiet with the estuary and river on our left we rode in stunning 20C sunshine down towards Llanrwst.

Just before Llanrwst we took the forest road over towards Llyn Geirionydd



a bit of care now as the road is very narrow with grass growing in the centre

Then on to The Ugly House (that we went past last weekend). This weekend we decided to stop there and have lunch in it.

with a quaint "wooden" menu cover



I went for the seafood platter of smoked mackerel, prawns and local smoked salmon gorgeous and served with "proper" tea with a strainer. No teabags here

My riding companion, Paul, went for the local three cheese platter.



Then over to Beddgelert through stunning mountain scenery, tiny A roads following the tumbling river course to Tan y Bwlch, a station for the little trains. For a photo stop, and another cuppa








From there we dropped down to the lanes to the A487 then onto the A4212 to Bala and on home after another awesome day out.

This late extension to summer is awesome!!!!

Probably the last trip to the lake for the summer, hopefully not but most likely. Used the stabilization setting since my current meds are making my hands shake a little.

Didn't you take any standing out in the glass enclosure? We were up there 3 years ago and it was a little disconcerting. I thought I read not too long ago that there was some cracking or popping going on!
