    Using leaked OS.

I use 13 email accounts on my p9982.

I get about 10 hours battery life. That's about it.

I made the following changes to improve battery life. If I'm missing anything, please advise.

    - switched to 3g / 2g network
    - dimmed the brightness to minimum.
-no wi fi or blue tooth or nfc.
    -turned off blackberry link
-turned off contact syncs, except for 4 email accounts.
    - set display off to 10 second of inactivity

Specifically which leaked OS are you using...10.2.1.1055 or are you on a 10.2.0.xxxx leak? What about your social media; What are their refresh times set for? Twitter and Facebook and the like can affect battery life as well. I have mine set to "never" or "manually" when it comes to refreshing.

    It's the clock.........

OK seriously this is the single biggest battery saving maneuver available imo.

    Settings/display/swipe to wake

    OFF.

Now when your device is in your pocket it isn't waking the display every time something hits the screen, it won't even start the touch event handler untill you unlock it by the top button

    I'm using 10.2.1.1055

I only use this device to make phone calls, check email, sms, whatsapp, Skype and some browsing. Maybe some android apps for trading / news.

I never use Facebook / twitter or whatever social site on phone. I removed them. No gaming or music or movies.

I like swipe to unlock function.
It's easy way to unlock instead of reaching top button. I wish they had swipe to lock function as well. I always use porsche design holster. I don't see clock running in the background. Any way to stop the clock alone?

    Any other options?

I Also placed order on mugen 1900mah battery.

Even small percentage would make bigger difference for me. I'm heavy user for messaging and calls.

Download taskmanager (by amitgosh) on BlackBerry World. It will let you see if there are any android processes running and let's you "kill" them.
I found a few running even if I never opened them. Needless to say I uninstalled those apps.

13 email accounts are the problem. Set the unimportant ones to sync less than 1 hour. Set unimportant ones to 4 hours. Basically make them sync as little as possible. I set least important ones or ones that get no mail to manual or 1 day.

Skype started those processes. Skype is an Android app cleverly packaged to look fairly native.

It also eats the CPU when in use.

To be honest, the battery upgrade is the best thing to do, everything else is about as good as it will get. If you really need the longer life, Q10 or Z30 will be your friends.

    Here's something to try:
    1. Fully charge the phone.
    2. Normal use of phone until battery is almost dead.
    3. Before you charge phone. View battery usage since last charge.

Also battery and CPU usage past 12 hours can be useful. Also, leave device monitor open and after few seconds the only thing using your CPU should be System between 2-5% cpu.

I think your accounts are syncing too frequently. Maybe they use push service and don't need to be synced more than once a day?

    Thanks will do.
I like everything about this phone.
    Except battery life.
Even z30 looks fat. To be honest, but the battery life is awesome. Probably it has the best battery life for a phone in the world.

If porsche design made a q10 version I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I love p9982, my only problem is to fix it's battery life. So it can be the phone best I ever owned. Hopefully I can find a way to fix this problem with crackberry users advise.

I hope this thread will also be useful to other p9982 / z10 owners as well.

I say just pick up the battery pack and carry it around with you. That's what I was doing with my z10. Now that I have a z30 (3emails, fb, twitter, LinkedIn, browsing and bbm video for work meetings), I don't have to worry about the battery at all. My battery life went from 7 hours to 12-14 on medium /heavy use.

Consider the z30. It will blow your mind.

Set sync to 4 hours or more for all email accounts that you can. It will not affect the "push" of the emails to the phone...it only makes synchronization of the "read mail" or filed mail and such. PM me if you need further explanation.

Good luck with your new P.

In case you have diagnostics switched on, turn it off, as it also can be harsh on battery.

Delete Skype. Right now. It never stops running unless you sign out of the app and force close with taskmanager. Sucks it has to be that way though...

I just noticed that I get improved standby time with no active frames running and with all other tweak i mentioned before.

It consumes only 5percent of battery life for 5hours in standby.

    Very impressed.

Looking forward to more advises and suggestions.

They sorta do, but you have to be on the lock screen to do it (either wait the ten seconds or press the top power button). From the lock screen move your finger slightly from the bottom of the screen upwards as if you're unlocking the device but instead of continuing the gesture to complete the command, bring your finger back down across the bottom bezel and it'll turn off the screen.

The lock screen limitation doesn't make this feature useful with current use of the device, but it's a great time-saver for those times when you take a quick glance at your phone without unlocking it.

Thanks. I changed all 13 email sync interval to manual.

It seems to already be working well for you so kudos on that, but I just wanted to let you know that manual sync intervals for your email accounts means that any changes you make to your folder or inbox (mark as read, delete, archiving messages) won't be sent to the server unless you tell the device to sync the changes, via the overflow menu (three dots on the bottom right) and selecting "Refresh." But again, this configuration seems to be working well for you so I'll just leave this disclaimer for anyone else who is unaware.
