They'd be pretty stupid to price them anywhere above 550 imo...

New phone or not, I'm a consumer and I know RIM needs to sell the phones. I will use this to my advantage, and will demand RIM and its carriers to sell it to me at a lower price.
There is little sympathy and it is cutthroat. Thorsten admitted it himself.

$0-159 with contract, $400 no contract. Otherwise, get me a Nexus 4 and I'll be happy to be with any carrier I like and unlocked.

in my opinion only the A series bb10 should be priced as premium, the L series should come at around $400 - $450 if they really want to make sales, debut the L series at that price. Users will get a feel for it, word will spread as users start to show it off and when it comes time for the A series to debut, drop the premium price on that and sales will only continue to get stronger.

I'm hoping the L-Series is $199 on 2-year contract here in the US. I could live with $249, but if they go over $199, I hope they do some kind of bundling with accessories or something to make it a good value.

i got a 8300 refurb for 5 bucks from att in 07. Looked new when I got it. The thing saw heavy heavy use for 2 1/2 years , it never failed or even flinched other than ball changes! Made in Canada!

In Canada, we are sadly still plagued by 3-year wireless contracts so..... with that, I would pay $199 on contract. Off contract, $599 is the absolute ceiling price.

If it's nearly as good as what I've seen lately, in videos and in person, I will happily pay $600. That's still $200-$300 less than an iPhone costs here.

$600 is over the top in my opinion, the os is great, but its not $600 great. especially for the specs $600 feels like a premium high end price and considering the trend that seems to be starting with quad core and 1080p screens in the android camp, the specs for the l series don't seem to fit the bill anymore. At least, not a $600 one, however this will still depend on how the current specs handles with the os. In the end i guess, its unknown what this device will truly be worth to consumers until the launch date and reviews come.

Not to me. Here's how I justify the cost of current tech (in my own mind).
18 years ago I spent over $1200 on a small (2lb), flipscreen, Sony Handycam to record some footage of our first born coming home for the first time from the hospital.
18 years later I can buy a device, half the price, that performs better, fits in my pocket and it can do countless other useful things.
    Times sure have changed.

I don't know about US but in Canada we have TERRIBLE plans for the $$ we pay a month. I remember reading articles mentioning that we actually have the highest costing smartphone plans in the world.

Yeah there are those $30 plans but they're either with companies that have poor reception or have horrible limits... I pay ~$60 for 200min, unl. texting, 500MB data and caller ID.
