Default Play music from Z10 on in car stereo system?

Hi all! Does anyone know an easy way to play music from my Z10 to my car stereo system? I'm thinking the BlackBerry Music Gateway... any other suggestions?

If your car stereo doesn't have bluetooth I would suggest getting an FM transmitter that supports a headphone jack.

I just got the music gateway and it is amazing. Hooked it up to my home system and instantly playing music wirelessly. Now I'm going to get one for my car. I love how it goes to sleep and wakes up instantly when in contact with blue tooth. I think it would be awesome for the car.

    Good luck

Thanks for your suggestions. Do you know if the Bluetooth connection causes battery drain?

If your car doesn't have bluetooth, a reasonable alternative is the Jabra Cruiser 2 bluetooth speakerphone. It'll give you the ability to do hands-free calling, but it also has a built-in FM transmitter so that it can broadcast whatever you stream to it (calls, music, navigation directions) over FM. You then just tune your car radio in to the appropriate station and you're good to go. I had one in my old car and it worked well.

I guess it will like any blue tooth but if you get the in car charger with the usb plug as well you can charge and run the gateway from one plug. That's what I'm going to do.

I work in the car audio industry and one of the best things you can do to your car is replace that factory radio with a great aftermarket radio one with bluetooth and USB port on it you will thank yourself. Handsfree calls and wireless audio streaming plus better sound quality so its highly recommended.

What zc1 said. I use that setup for calls and music. Works like a charm and the blackberry bluetooth one I have uses the same micro usb car charger so less accessories. I use the gateway at home but find the fact that it uses a normal usb plug a little inconvenient.

I have a 2004 Grand Cherokee, with factory radio. So, I could replace that with a stereo that I can plug a USB in to to connect my Z10 or (whisper) iPod? Would those only be available at places like car audio shops, or such as Walmart?

Lots of car audio shops check your local listing however the cost would be less for you just to add an aux input under $200 including install and antenna adaptors (yes I am a installer

So I just did a quick search at one of our western Canadian electronic stores and found a couple of reasonably priced units, by Alpine and Pioneer (just over $100), that have a USB port and an aux jack. The only problem is that the customer reviews for this shop are pretty bad, and the actual car audio shops are selling the really high end, expensive audio packages (think $1000 - $5000). Guess I need to start making some phone calls, I'm on a mission now. If I have to I guess I can go back to using the iPod with the cigarette lighter/fm transmitter setup, but I really love my Z10 and would like to use it.

Thanks Kman, I have a 2004 Grande Cherokee. I'll check Future Shop, never thought of them, and that's a more manageable price for a little old lady that doesn't need enough sound or bass to blow my eardrums, or the folks two cars back in the other lane LOL

If your car stereo can play music off a usb stick, just plug your charge cable to your unit and phone and play music directly off the sd card and charge your phone at the same time.

I have a Blackberry external blue tooth device. I use it to answer all my calls when driving and it also has an option to con next to a radio frequency. All you is find a FM Frequency that is not used in your area, and connect the bleutouth to that. Start plying your music on your Z10 and hear it on your car radio. I also y use the Nobex app and listen to radio stations from all over the world - who needs to spend money on satellite radio!

Here's a simple work around for wireless music streaming....
If you should happen to have a car equipped with an AUX via 3.5mm headphone jack you could always pair a BlackBerry music gateway to your phone and use the headphone jack to AUX input and power the gateway with the BlackBerry Z10 Battery charger bundle. With nfc on you simply tap the phone against the music gateway and your good to go.

Thanks Schoshaii, but that's the issue for some of us. We have older vehicles that don't have a factory stereo with a USB port or an AUX jack at all. So I thought my only option was to wait for a FM transmitter setup that is compatible with the Z10.

Get a BlackBerry VM 605 and problem solved. It is a hands free Blue Tooth device that works through any car radio.
