Before I updated to 10.2....ok I know Im behind the times and behind with updates ....I used to be able to go into settings, notifications, and tap on for instance, BBM, tap the sound an it would play almost as a sort of preview of what was set.

Since 10.2 I don't get any sound when I do this. Now I don't know whether there has been a change in how the set up works in the 10.2 update...I've just wondered about this having deleted my ring tones, downloaded them and set them up again. Of course it would have saved me some fiddling about if I'd asked on here first...

Can someone try it on theirs and see if they get a sample of their tone when they set it please?

Yes, I do. This may be too obvious, but have you checked your volume setting?

You say you updated to 10.2
Is that 10.2.0 or 10.2.1 because 10.2.0 had issues with sound files.

Volume is ok and all sounds set to on. The notification come in ok...but it just seemed strange that in the settings the sound preveiw didn't seem to work anymore.

And if there were issues with this in 10.2 then thats probably what it is.....and there might be a trip next door to my friend's lad's 'high speed' reliable b/band sooner than I had planned

Mine might be ok then...although why I feel the need to go in there and see what sounds I have set up when I know exactly what sounds are in each app is anyone's guess....

Joking aside, when my email accounts demand their daily password I tend to check all the settings each time..and I check the sound is on.

I have seen this too. If you make no change, there is no sound. So just selecting the current setting produces no sound. In legacy devices, it did. Now, sound is only made when changing a setting. Seems like a move backwards, but no huge issue.
