I answered a call last night while in a very loud bar and i could barely hear the friend on the other side of the phone who also has a z10 and mid conversation he stops me to ask if i'm inside the bar or if i went out front to answer the call. I told him I was sitting right at the bar and he said wow, that noise cancelling works really well. He said I can hear background noise but I can hear you clearly, it sounds more like you're out front. I just thought that was pretty cool and people tent to make threads to ask about something that is wrong or to complain so there you have it. Noise cancelling

I remember my wife on her bold 9780 trying to "Show Me" the terribly loud concert next to her office. I heard her voice clearly and nothing else. She could barely hear herself. When it comes to call quality and clarity I think BlackBerry has a huge lead. It works really that well.

You both had a Z10 and it worked only on your side? Weird.

    To James Bond:

what do you mean worked only on one side? It's the clever microphone technology, so why would both "hear it" if only one person is in a loud environment?

    and Pallav:
    No settings, does it automatically.

lol what? i could barely hear him through the speaker because the bar was loud, not because HE was in a noisy place.

For those not aware, there are two microphones on the Z10. One on top of the device that picks up ambient noise and one on the bottom that picks up your voice and ambient noise. BB10 OS then does its job at removing the noise while keeping your voice clear.

Sounds like it's doing a great job at it

    Good to know!

But I've experienced this when I was in a shopping mall, but my buddy thought I was alone

The noise cancelling is good, when using the phone normally, however if you use headphones it is exceedingly noisy. Something that needs some work still..

Its technikel not possible for the noise-cancelling to do his job if it is in your pocket while your using it with headphones
