Hi,

After weeks of research on the BB Z10, I finally decided to buy it. It should arrive some time next week. I'm excited. This is my first BB phone. I've been using Android phones exclusively since 2009, from Eclair to Jelly Bean, then Windows phone 7.8 for the past year. I also have an iPad. So I'm very fluent with the most recent technologies. But I've been looking for a phone that could let me multitask efficiently, I believe Z10 is my answer. I just hope the novelty doesn't die off the same way it did on Jelly Bean and Windows phone. And I hope I had made a right decision on purchasing the Z10.

Since it's a new OS, I've been reading alot of bugs here and there. I think I will get the 10.2 leak as soon as I get the phone. I've been reading a lot of improvements made. I read that Z10 doesn't recognise phone numbers from Google search results, which is probably the only thing I don't like about Z10. Maybe 10.2 has a fix for it.

Anyways, just wanted to say hello!

You'll like it. Load the latest OS and sideload a few apps and you'll be loving your Z10.

Get a screen protector.
Skip the 16 & 32gig SanDisk memory card and spring for the 64gig card you'll thank me later.
Check out bumper case to protect against drops.
Check out insurance that covers loss theft and malfunction/damage.

Loading 10.2 is a must....also, I just googled "Game Stop" and my hometown....there was a little box with the store phone number under the website search result....I touched it and a call confirmation popped up asking "Call 575-XXX-1234?" So the Z10 DOES recognize phone numbers from a search.
I believe you are correct, though, in 10.0....mine didn't do it when I first got it and I remember a lot of people very disappointed with that

I'm happy you did your research before making a decision. It shows you put thought into it. Expect a bit of a learning curve, but once you've had it for a while you'll see why it definitely is a great device.

The Z10 is also my first BlackBerry phone. I've used Androids in the past and hands down, BB10 UI is muck more fluid. Android have too many buttons both physical and virtual, it feels clunky.

The only thing you'll be disappointed about is customization. If that's not a big deal and communication is your priority, you'll love it.

The Blackberry Protect was a great tip, as I often misplace my phones.
I will certainly have to save up for the 64GB SD card, but for now, 16 is sufficient for my purpose.
As for case and screen, I will probably get a cheap ebay bumper case and Zagg HD. Although I heard the Transform case is very nice too, I'm just not sure if it's worth the money.

I have to say, after using Windows phone for a year, I didn't find myself missing the customisability of Android that much. don't get me wrong, I like to customise things, I had created some nice skins and icons with UCCW. What I really missed was the automation function. I was choosing between Nexus 4 and Z10 in fact, but at the end, I found Nexus 4 too wide for my liking. They are finally doing it right with the MotoX.

Perfect timing. I can't believe Blackberry made that announcement a day after I bought the phone. I keep reading about fire sales from other blogs and journal sites where people leave comments about the event. Is that true? Should I return the Z10 and wait for a fire sale?
