Yeah that's a problem. I also have had similar problems.
It seems the battery meter sync is ill.
Try cooling down the battery, a hard reset. May be it'll work.

Drain your battery until it shuts down then charge to a 100%.

I have a similar problem the phone charges to 100% normally then when the battery reaches 0% it keeps on working for a couple more hours before shutting down... I used to hate it but now it kind of gives me a safe feeling, that I still have charge even after battery is 0.

Drain your battery then take it out for an hour. Put it back in and charge til it reaches 100%.

Trust me, almost everyone who's using an STL1 feels the same. But as of now, we can only do workarounds. The best solution would be to sell your device and get an STL2 or 3, or get a Z30 instead.

After you recalibrate it, try to avoid using chargers besides the one that came with the phone if you do then always beware if the possibility that it may occur again. 10.2.1.3175 had reportedly fixed that issue though. It hardly ever happens to me and I use a non - BlackBerry car charger. Sometimes the phone stops charging and shows a red battery outline with an exclamation mark in the centre while using it though and no matter what I try it wouldn't start back charging until I use the original charger. Same thing happened to me recently when I tried using an S4 charger and I also tried a generic cheapo charger. On those last few occasions, I was running a lot of apps simultaneously and had a lot of downloads goin on in BlackBerry World.

This is mostly attributed to the battery's current temperature. At about 44 C, the charger stops charging and the phone displays a red exclamation mark inside a red battery outline. When the temperature goes down to about 43 or 42 C, charging resumes. Using a charger with a high A output can increase the temperature and decrease the battery's lifespan so it's better to use the 750 mA standard BlackBerry charger instead.

Know the output of your power bank. Any output above 2A can prove disastrous to the Z10's battery. A output between 500 mA to 1.5 A is recommended.
