    Hey!

I'm leaving for Europe for holidays on Monday and I just unlocked my STL100-3 model Z10 from Rogers. Just wondering using a prepaid SIM if my model will work going to France and Italy btw

Work for what, exactly? You never specified. It'll work for voice but your data options might be limited to EDGE, 3G and LTE might be rather limited. You'd need to look at what carriers you're planning on going with and seeing what bands they support, most should be able to get you 3G for data.

Yep, you need to give out a few more details.

Buuuuuttt, the STL3 version is the most compatible version out there. Supports the most radio bands.

Sorry about that, I'll need voice to keep touch back home and data would be nice to research local attractions/restaurants. 3G even Edge is fine with me for that. I'm not picky

Looks like some people got offended by the OP's post! The way I read it, OP's concern seems to be more about the compatibility of STL100-3 with the system in Europe, not whether they have 4G or LTE coverage over there!

To share my own experience, I have an unlocked STL100-2 that I bought from the UK. Every time I go back to the US and use my US T-Mobile sim in it, everything works, but the internet speed drops to a crawling pace. I don't think it even gets 3G (it feels more like 2G). Now, I don't know if the same will happen with STL100-3 used in Europe, but if my experience is an indication, there seems to be some incompatibility between the two systems that may limit the internet speed if the wrong phone is used!

Prepaid sim on unlocked phone should work. Word of advice, if you buy sim in Europe you will have to buy one in France and Italy, but check first how much you have to pay for making phone calls to your country, could be cheaper with sim from your country. Data is a different issue.
