Make sure that you disable Dropbox sharing via data plan .

Use only wifi for that .

I use around 100 mb / week but I dont open youtube clips, I just read news , check emails and install apps via my data plan.

I'm at 4.8gb in 14 days. So yes it goes pretty quick. I'm a heavy data user tho but also got an old umb plan that I am not letting go of. Last month I used 6.4gb total and I'm well on pace to surpass that this month.

Yeah, I'm worried about what I need to upgrade my plan to when I move from Torch 9800 on 200MB/mo (avg use 50GB/mo) to a Z10.

After how long? I don't recall when you posted you got your Z10.
I'm halfway through my month now.

I also fly through data. I noticed it happened once I have sideloaded some apps. I have now deleted the apps I have sideloaded. Will have to monitor it.

On WiFi most of the time so the data total is not terrible, but still runs about 3x what the 9900 used for the same functions and usage. Not an issue for me and my family as we have a data plan large enough to accommodate the new usage.

The I phone on my account has used far more data than my z10 and I use my phone way more. Make it a point to use wifi whenever possible though.

It all depends on how you use it! My wife uses her Z10 like a dumb phone with only one email address set up, she used a whopping 2.4 Mb data for 2 weeks. During the same period, I have used almost 2G data!

Podcasts? I got a rude awakening after burning through 250 mb in one day because the "Wifi Only" setting on my podcast app was buggy.

My data usage is up due to the fact that I'm on the internet way more and downloading more videos (love that NHL Game Center) but nothing crazy.

Could some of your apps be updating constantly such as the BB Travel?

It sure seems odd that others are burning through the GB and other are not? Not sure what the deal is. I'mthat people have 8 actuve frames open at all times. Close some of hte active frames and i bet your usage goes way down.

Coming from an older BB I knew to watch out for a lot of data suckage. The first thing I did (like most of us) was make sure I was on WiFi as much as possible, and am lucky enough to be in range of some source almost all the time. Then I would get paranoid and check, so I a put a shortcut to whatismyip.com mobile site on my desktop to verify my connection, or did a lot at first.

Now I have taken to shutting data services *off*. I rarely turn it on, since I am usually driving to another place with WiFi. I don't need to be looking at email, etc while driving anyway. If I am away for an extended period of time, or need data on the road, then yea, by all means, I switch it back on.

I'd feel a lot more comfortable if some certain carriers would let you choose 1XEV/3G or LTE. It pretty much ticks me off that they block this feature. 3G is just fine for knocking about doing whatever, but still getting emails etc, and no fear of some crazy app going nuts eating all my allowances.

If I want LTE speed, I'll switch it on. I do have to say that my battery life is amazing with data off.

There is an application called "Network Monitor" available for both Z10 and PlayBook which can give you an idea where the running apps send data and show you the volume of transferred data in real-time. BlackBerry World - Network Monitor

I came from an Iphone 5 and found that my usage is about the same. I tend not to leave many frames open, normally just neatly during the day and that's about it. I did notice that both my Iphone and Z10 use about 3x more data than my 9900 but I tend to do a lot more streaming and downloading on them than I did on the 9900.

If you're using verizon. Then u haven't had an update yet? I had the same problem with the z10 out of the box before any updates. Now data burn seems fine.

I'm using more for sure this cycle, but that's because I've been on the phone non stop and using the browser more then my pc or playbook. I also been doing more slacker and downloading from BlackBerry world so I know I've been using my share for sure.
