Does anyone know what type of music files the Z10 can read? I've tried looking it up, but can't seem to find any information.

I can't sleep, so I thought I would actually be productive and rip some of my CD's to the computer...something that I always say I will do, but never really get to it...

For some reason, I thought that Windows Media Player ripped music in the .MP3 format. I was wrong. All of the songs that I have ripped are in a .WMA format. I could start ripping to iTunes, but those would be .MP4 (I think).

Will the .WMA format work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I obviously do not have a Z10 yet, so I can't just check for myself.

WMA should work fine, as long as the file does not have DRM.

The media support is unbelievable. I was so shocked to see that the phone played WMV and MKV files! It's great to know that it supports FLAC as well! Not sure I'll ever use it (or WMA, for that matter), but it's good to have. Even the desktop version of iTunes doesn't support FLAC :P

Can anyone confirm that the Z10 plays FLAC audio files out of the box?

My 9900 plays flac but not always without issue. The Playbook did not support flac in its native media player, although a very basic flac app was later released for $2

Id love to be able to just move my microSD to my z10 and have all my flac files work

I downloaded the sample FLACs at eClassical.com 24-bit FLAC lossless Classical Music Download Store and the 16 bit one plays fine but the 24 bit one does not.

With a disc inserted, top menu bar, go to Rip Settings, then More Options, then Rip Settings again.

I'm having trouble getting blackberry link to recognize the FLAC music files. I ripped one of jazz cd's in FLAC and cd is not showing up in my Link software. I copied the FLAC files directly into the music directory in a folder called Fourplay - X. The phone is registering ad unknown, but the music plays and has the song titles.

Any thoughts on how I can get it to register and display the album art?

yeah - but it doesn't support midi files - not that it matters too much except for the fact that many of my old notifiers are midi files and my Z10 doesn't play them

The Z10 will play .flac files but only 16bit as 24bit support isn't in BB10 yet.
If you want to play 24bit .flac, get Neutron although it'll 'downgrade' them to 16bit in order to play them.
