I've had my Z10 for about a week now after converting from a 9930. Last night, our house wifi went out so I pulled out my z10 to flip on mobile hotspot so my wife could keep working on her computer. When I turned it on, it turned it right back off and gave me an "activation required" pop up. When I asked my company today to contact Verizon to get it activated again (it was running on my bold), they were told that the z10 doesn't have that functionality?!?!?!

I tried searching...but I didn't see any other posts reporting this same issue with Verizon. Do other folks have it running?

    Thanks!

    PS - I'm running the 1756 leak.

Running your Z as a wi-fi hotspot is a subscription service, I believe. Did you set up the service with VZW online at your account or by calling them?

I use mobile hotspot quite a bit. Despite what your carrier is saying, they likely don't have the feature active for your account. I would call then back and ask to speak to someone higher up.

Mobile Hotspot works MUCH better than my iPhone5 on Verizon.

Sounds like whoever my company talked to today at Verizon doesn't know that the z10 has this capability. I'll have them call again tomorrow. Thanks!

The Z10 most definitely has hot spot. And you should yell at them for charging you as well. Its baked into the OS and free on most other carriers. I use it every other day with my laptop in my car with a 6gig data plan on my Z10 and I haven't gone over yet in 3 months

I have this problem on the .1483 leak but was able to use the hotspot freely on the first leak released for the STL100-4. I think with their new contracts Verizon offers this for free, but I don't use it much so I'm not really concerned at this point.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm on .1756 too, my bad! I think it's just an issue with the OS, I hope...

Me and my wife are running the stock os on our Verizon z10's and my wife uses Hotspot every weekend while she visits her mom. No issues at all. Works great. It does count towards our data usage.
