I kept losing memory on my z10 OS 10.2.1.1925 and have
found a way to recover it and why it gets used up over time.
It's because app's (Native & Android) keep using it up. At first
I thought it was because it was a OS problem but actually
it is not. The reason is app authors don't clean the apps
use cache when the app closes. Over time the app keeps
adding and adding to it's cache. The way to find out what
app is gathering too much cache is to go to SETTINGS,
STORAGE AND ACCESS THEN CLICK ON DEVICE
    STORAGE DETAILS (DEVICE MONITOR).
Wait till the device collects all the storage usage for all apps. It will collect data for all apps. Even
the Android apps. The largest use apps will be listed at the
top when done. Notice you will see that some app's are 50 megs
plus. Any app that is over 50 megs is a MEMORY HOG!

Now the way to recover the lost memory. No you don't have to
re-install the OS or do a WIPE. All you have to do is delete
the ones that are hogs and then just re-install them. If the
app size before install is around 3 to 4 megs. Guess what?
When you delete it and reinstall all that 50 megs + gets recovered.
You then get the app back to normal use size again and recover
it's hogged memory even though it will fill it again over
    use and time.

Remember to restart the phone after you delete a list or one app
so the phone can recover the data space before you re-install
the app again. I figure it gives the app a fresh slate and a
place to build a data hogging slot again. lol

I tested this theory several times to make sure what I was seeing
was actually happening and it was over and over again. IGRAN
gave me the clue as to what was the cause from a update. It
used to grab memory, I noticed for me it grab up to around
180 megs. Larger then any other apps that I run. The author
said in an update that he added a cache clean up on close.
He was right.. Now IGAN only uses about 2.5 megs at app end
over 180. Wow, I was knocked out. I thought, if he can do
that with IGRAN I can do that too by removing apps and
re-install the ones I need. The memory hogs I don't need
for every day use I left off. BOOM! Problem solved.

I also noticed a huge gain in battery life. I figured.. Hey, that seems
right.. The more junk your phone has in memory the harder it works
to regulate it's storage. Solved 2 issues with one action. Recover
lost memory and gained more battery life.

This works for my z10 STL100-3 and I am sure this will work
for any other OS 10.. Give it a try and see what you think.
You have noting to lose and everything to gain..

While this is great advice...I just want to make some corrections:

"lose" only has one "o". "loose" is when something is not attached properly.

Also, he is obviously talking about flash-disk space and not memory...though, to kill memory-hogging apps, just go to the Memory tab, tap the app and hit close.

He's talking of some that grow, not the ones that actually use that memory. The CB app is one culprit that grows quite a bit over time. I did this delete and reinstall last week after I noticed that the app had hoarded over 800mb of data.

Bad apps are a problem . The ebay app last June may as well been called a terrorist attack on the Z10. Its was a complete crap app.

Sorry typed all that in 20min before clocking out after a day from you know
where and didn't notice my typo. Brain was fried.. Thanks for your
    correction.

As for the memory tab when I tap it only cooked in
apps show and nothing installed? Flash disk? Well whatever
the apps are stored in Flash or internal phone memory regardless that keeps dropping. Internal SD I guess
would have been a better choice of words. App storage maybe more selective..

No, the ones you mentioned are cooked into the OS and can't be deleted.. I am talking about large installed apps only,, The browser size can be reduced by going into browser settings and clearing History, Clear Cookies and Other Data..

Snap at 93 megs could be removed and reinstalled for about
90 megs or so of clean up.. Snap then would only be the size of the instal with a new cache at zero..

In simple terms it's just known as storage, not memory. A Z10 for example had 16GB of storage and 2GB of memory (RAM, random access memory).

Storage is where things are permanently stored for retrieval later, whether that's apps, games, photos, music or whatever.

Memory is where things that are running on the phone, the OS, the Hub, apps in Active Frames are temporarily held while they are doing their thing until they are closed and/or the phone is shutdown.

In more complicated terms the lines between what's storage and what's memory can become blurred when you dig deep and talk about complex hardware and OS configurations, but that just confuses people so let's keep it simple.

OK, point taken but I think everyone knows what I am referring to
minus technical Xray. lol Thanks for clearing my way.. I don't claim
to be a app developer or phone gooroo just ran across something
and just wanted to share it..

That's cool. I wasn't trying to be a knob. Just wanted to clarify for anybody that might be confused.

    Mmm...CB10! Just the tip though...

Thanks for this post. My Q10 is having the same problem since loading android apps. I've gone from 5.8 gigs in storage to 6.51 gigs in just a couple of weeks! I think I'll delete some and see where it goes!

    In browser:
Turn off disk cache and delete all other data in the browser settings. And if you want to, turn disk cache back on after.

And another note, Android apps even on a legit Android device suck at managing their files. Even after clearing their data and deleting them, reminiscent files are often left on the system. So if you sideload, expect your storage to suck a little more. I don't remember if the file management system works the same on official Android apps though.
