I need help. This is driving me crazy and is probably the cause of my abysmal battery life.

My location icon is always on. I have turned of all location permission apps and it's still there. I can only assume that the OS is doing this.

When I turn off location services under settings it goes away. Something is calling for GPS location all the time. It can only be the OS.

    Anyone else? Ideas?

I have noticed this too, not sure what it could possibly be from. No apps are open and the location is still being identified...... Must be the OS

Do you have Poynt installed? If so, open and close the app. Should make it go away.

I think I've figured it out. It's Skype. I deleted Skype and it solved the problem. I reinstalled it and the problem hasn't reoccurred. It could be that because Skype is a (crappy) Android port that it hooks itself into the GPS and doesn't let go.

This is like Poynt (another crappy Android port) which just doesn't let the GPS go under any circumstance after the first run.

    P.S. Android ports are terrible.

    It's not Poynt. It's Skype.

Can confirm that its one of these two. I deleted Skype but the indicator was still visible. Then opened Poynt and closed it again and it went away. Maybe its both. I had this happen once before with 10.0 and at that time I only had Poynt installed (not Skype).

I noticed Poynt had it on all the time, I deleted that. And skype does it at log on. Sometimes it gets location and it's done, sometimes it takes a long time. Opening it and closing it usually helps

Poynt uses the GPS to pinpoint your location for various functions. Nearest gas stations etc..

    Paranoid over nothing..

FYI poynt was not an android port for the playbook only the z and q

Further update. So far I'm leaning more towards Poynt. I uninstalled Poynt but reinstalled Skype and so far has been OK. The issue seems to be an issue with my Z10 (10.1) when restarting the phone after a full shutdown. Not sure why that would be.
