Hey all. Since the last os update to 10.2.1.2977 my z10 has developed a problem with the light and proximity sensor.
Virtual assistant shows unavailable and as shown in the attached picture the files for these sensors are missing. I have done some searching and have not found a solution.
I have wiped and reinstalled rebooted nothing I have done has been able to put the files back on my phone.
Does anyone know where I could get a copy of these files to put on my z10. Thank you all

You can try what worked for some when BB messed up. Turn off wifi and data for a test, reboot (see below) and then test the sensors

    Try a restart:

Press and HOLD both Vol Up/Down buttons. Keep holding while the screen goes fully black (ignore the screenshot), keep holding through the Black/White logo and when the Colored Logo shows up, release those buttons.

If you have the STL100-1 variant the volume button reset method doesn't work. In that case, Press and HOLD the Power On Button until you see the LOGO as above

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately it didn't work for me I will try a few more times though. The files at the moment are still missing.

After trying a few times I got the issue of all the sensors unavailable and the camera not working and also screen shot was not working. A few restarts later I am back where I was with just the light and proximity sensor not working.

It's a known issue, you're not the only one.

Took a while nosing around with Ghost Commander (I don't use it that often and get lost in a maze of folders!!!!) but I guess I do have entries for

    faceDetect

    and

    light

I have the same OS as you. I used Sachesi to grab the bar files and then load them. But looking at the bar files, I do not see any with those names. Not sure if they are included in the larger OS or have some other names.

Where did you get the bar files off.

Check out the Sachesi thread(s) in the Leak OS subforum. There will be pointers to the various OS versions and you plug those values into the Sachesi app. Or you could try an Autoloader program but that wipes your data and settings (you can backup and restore using BBLink)

This problem is getting to me bad looks like I will probably be buying a new phone tomorrow and can't see it being a blackberry. I can't even use the lock button to lock the screen when I am on a call.

How old is your phone? Warranty?

It's not even 6 months old but the shop won't take it in without the receipt and when I moved I misplaced it.

The part can be changed in a 5 minute job.

In the "Z10 sensors" thread we sort of agreed it is hardware.

It make some wonder, did they stop after a volume button reset?
I am very interested in the cause - that is the only one I can imagine....

I opened my phone and the connectors came off the motherboard nothing wrong with the sensors I put it back on and it is now working. Makes me wonder if the people who paid for repair actually had new sensors fitted.

I had - went there in person .
I also opened the phone before and reconnected it - so mine were definitely broken.
(I stopped short of taking the sensor part out - and I couldn't source a spare myself.)

I'm having this problem for the second time and I want to try to reconnect the sensors.
Is it hard to reach the connectors of the sensors? I don't want to break anything.

AI don't think it is a connectors issue.

    You can try though.
If you aren't as clumsy as an elephant in a porcelain shop you should be fine.
Be aware that there is thermal paste on the CPU - do you leave it or replace it?

You should replace the thermal paste it's easy enough to open just be careful that's all. If you want assistance in taking the phone apart there are videos for screen replacement you can watch.

Well, I can tell you that arctic silver will leave you a message anybody services it again...
The issue is that BlackBerry stupidly chose to to use a very thick layer of thermal paste - rather than a thin one...
Heck, it even seems attractive to put a metal shim in there!!!
