    As there are many LED apps out there could anyone give me some advice which ones are the best to use whether they are a paid app or free.

    Try os 10.3.1. You can change led colour in profile setting, 3rd led apps will drain your battery faster.

    I haven't got 10.3 but thanks I appreciate your comment I know there are many leaks out there but I'd rather it update the OS when it does automatically.

    I use LED color message from Toysoft. However, there might be a better app out there since I have not checked in a while.
