As an AT&T Z10 user i am annoyed with the delay to release the update 10.1 same as everyone else that shares my position, so i was thinking, what if i call At&t and unlock my phone, then i remove my sim card, plug my phone to the computer and try to update thru the web, Will i be able to get any update for my Z10? Im currently running the latest official att update, which is crap, it reboots and some minor bugs, as well as dont being able to get skype and the many improvement that 10.1 brings to the phone, anyone tried this before? I'd appreciate some feedback. Thanks

i dont think you will get any update. You still have to have a SIM for a difference carrier. For example i can pop my straight talk SIM in and get ATT updates and if i use my tmobile SIM i obviously get those updates.

So if i try that w a T-Mobile sim card after unlocking the phone I might get the T-Mobile update? I guess is better than nothing

You WILL get the update, I did that here in the UK, works like a charm. You don't need to buy airtime either, I did it with an unregistered sim.

Z10STL100-2/10.1.0.2354 on O2 UK

Let us know if it works, there will always be people unwilling to do this out of principal but for the majority. I'd imagine if all they have to do to get an office OS 10.1 update is get their phone unlocked, then they should be blowing AT&T customer service up!

Might even trigger some reaction from the carrier. Most of the time they don't like having their phones unlocked as that usually equates to customers dropping their service provider.

I ordered a sim but yesterday they rolled out the new update, I'm still gonna keep the T mobile sim card for the future aka 10.2
