    ...... considering its size.

Larger phones have a lot bigger batteries, so it is unfair to compare the Z10 to other phablets like the Z30.

When you compare the Z10 to other 4 inch phones, the Z10 is actually pretty good.

I am just going to use the Gsmarena battery test as the standard comparison since I thought that is the most widely done phone battery tests.

The Z10 gets 46 hours according to Gsmarena

    Attachment 317410

    Which is actually more than:

Of course, there is no getting around that BlackBerry Z10 has a bad battery life compared to the BlackBerry standard people are used to, but it is also not quite the "worst battery life" on a smartphone.

Just thought I would put this since I see so many people complaining about the battery life of the Z10.

A lot of the time it depends on usage. If you like to play games and watch videos which is what I would consider heavy usage then you would get like 4-6 hours tops. Moderate usage I would say 8-10. Light usage you could 12 or more. It also depends on your battery too. I bought a charger bundle that came with a battery and that battery lasts longer.

The problem is the inconsistency with the battery. Some days it will just drain by itself while sitting idle and other days it will last. All of this with the same apps running.

I think a lot of it has to do with the location. Z10 battery seems to be severely impacted by any fluctuations in cellular signal. Its a shame really.

Never had this issue. I use the phone almost same way every day and the battery lasts consistently at least 12h. I live in Toronto area and the network coverage around is very good. Every cellular phone will use more battery trying to reconnect if signal strength is weak. BlackBerry phones are no different.

I was lucky to get 5-6 on mine. Had two replacements, changed batteries. A lot was probably due to signal in my area but even in an area with good coverage it was a case of charging throughout the day.

Since I got my Z30, no such issues. Maybe I was just unlucky, which was a shame as I loved the design of the 10

Having used it since launch day, and having used many other smartphones, I can honestly say that no, the Z10 does not have bad battery life

I think it's not that bad if it's on 3G. But I find myself charging the phone once a day on standby (3 push emails, social accounts), twice if I play music and browse social media, and on 4G. 1800mAh is definitely not impressive for todays smartphone standards, the Lumia 820 had the same battery draining issues due to the same battery capacity.

It's really not bad compared to similar devices of its day. OEM battery charger bundles can be found for dirt cheap these days, so you can double the battery life with a quick swap.

The problem is on some days it will last more than 20 hours whilst on some days on the same usage, or even on idle state, it will last only 8-10 hours. This to me is still a mystery.

I've had those days. The phone randomly heats up and eats 30% and then goes back to normal for a month. Really odd. Doesn't bother me too much since I have a spare to swap but it's odd. Definitely happens when I play around with leaks and don't do a clean wipe. Loading one OS on top of another is asking for trouble though. Especially non destructive leak updates.

Moderate use, good signal = 8-10 hours. Heavier use on 3G and Internet browser = 6 hours max. Conclusion = yes, the Z10 has relatively poor battery life.

look at the inconsistent battery behaviour, the usage never changed but it gives up on some occasions.

It's the BBM running all the time bug that some people are reporting. In my stats BBM is idle all the time, I don't use BBM. Battery lasts 12-18h with 1-2h phone calls and 1-2h screen-on time. In idle battery holds easily over 48h. The OS release running on my phone is in my signature.

Mine went from reliable battery to strangely unreliable a few weeks back. Previously I was getting 14-18 hours out of a charge with moderate usage, then suddenly down to 6 and a very hot phone even when sitting idle. Did a wipe, installed a new leak, battery is now back to being reliable.

I don't know which app caused the problem, I've only reinstalled what I was using instead of everything and the kitchen sink. So far so good.

I see some user report that the latest BBM update is sometimes causing constantly running processes and related battery drain issues. I don't use BBM and can't replicate the issue on my phone though.

It's not bad but it's not great either. I can tell you as I was learning my way around bb10, the crackberry app was the biggest drain on my bat.

All right, I can't hold it in any more. OS 10.3.0 has made my battery life unbelievably good!

I noticed right after I installed that the standby / idle graph was practically flat but after two weeks on this new OS, I am blown away.

Considering the battery is 62% the size of the Z30's, the improvement now brings the hourly drain to the mathematically-accurate proportions one would expect, i.e. phonex battery capacity / z10 battery capacity (1800) * phonex hourly drain.

It's so comforting to know that I can leave the phone idle and still have some juice to work with. Two batteries should allow for uninhibited power use now. Yeehaw!

After uninstalling a lot of junk, over the holidays consistently I've been using my phone from 9am to midnight with 40% charge left when I plug in at bedtime.

It might not be the best battery for everyone, but seems to be more than good enough for me.

O_O. Impressive. I actually had 10.2.2 before I switched to 10.3.0.1418 and never achieved such energy efficiency. Maybe it's network tuning that's changed.

Different locations give different results, I guess. That's why we get best battery life reports with different OS/Radio versions.

10.3.1.1154 was amazing for me. 10.3.1.19xx whatever the version is has made it worse although the radio isn't matching which might be it. But its still getting me through a day most times without a swap or going red so I'm not complaining. If I use it a lot it does still need a swap.
