Hey I just recently bought a Verison z10 from Ebay, Im looking to unlock the phone but what kind of sim card should I buy ? Do i need a sim card at all to unlock the phone ? If i wanted to activate it with virgin mobile or a prepaid plan will I need a specific sim card ?

There are a few things to think about.

1. A lot of Verizon LTE phones are unlocked from the get go. You can confirm this by going into your BlackBerry settings, SIM Card and view whether or not it's tied to Verizon or says, "Unlocked". If it doesn't say unlocked, you can then proceed to Google and search Unlock Cellphone. This will give you a few merchants that send unlock codes for around 5-10 dollars. Pretty inexpensive and easy to do these days. This is okay in the US as long as you're not under contract.

2. If you're wanting to use the phone on a prepaid service like Virgin Mobile, you need to see if it's on their approved list. You can't edit the APN settings on a BlackBerry like you could on an Android. If they do allow it, you will get a SIM card from them that they will send to you upon signing up for a plan.

Thanks so much for the help when I checked under my settings everything said unlocked but it currently doesn't have a sim card in the phone. Does that matter?

Nope, if all 3 sections say unlocked then you are good.

As long as they except the CDMA phones, you should be fine. Sometimes they do have restrictions, so you have to check their limitations. Check their website!

Yes they are with sprint which is cdma.
