When I read all of the reviews about the Z 10 before I bought mine, everybody seemed to rave about the keyboard feature that allows you to select a word by picking the word that floats above the next letter in the word.

So, when I got my Z10 that is the way I typed. I soon realized that I was being slowed down by looking for the word above the letter. What I didn't realize before I got my Z10 was what a great job of built in error correction it had.

Now, I just type along with my thumbs and review the message after I'm done typing and I am amazed how often BlackBerry just gets it right. There is a lot to love about the Z10, but I think the virtual keyboard is easily one of its best features.

I felt the same as you. It took extra time looking for the word you want. After time you do get used to which words will pop up where so you can flick / swipe up without thinking about it. I'm mainly use a Q10 now with word prediction on & find that, that is handy.

Same. It's much quicker to just type as I would on a physical keyboard.

I used the flick all the time at first but felt that it slowed me down a bit. Now I only use it when I am typing with one hand, other than that I just type everything out

I type one handed most of the time so I'm always flicking. Even when I type with both hands I still flick because my keyboard is so well trained. I'm on OS 10.1.0.2354 which I think has the best predictions so far.

Ive never been able to get the flicken' flicking to work for me!

Every time I try, it types the closest letter instead. After a few attempts and backspacing, I give up and just type the word. I've realized its a total waste of time, much faster not to bother.

Now I have to get used to the auto text (in spacebar) predicts in 3 or 4 characters. If I type too much of the word - say 5 or 6 characters ... it disappears, and comes back only if I misspell. So I have to stop typing so much!

    Wrong.

The way the super auto correction learns is by swiping up words. Is like you are constantly confirming the way you type. And it's noticing so that when you type fast while being drunk it works like a charm.

If you would have just started typing when you got the phone. Then the auto correction wouldn't be as good as you might think.

I agree, using flick typing usually slows me down. But is helpful for longer words. The auto correct is good as well

I flick when words are really long, or when one-handed typing. But I find flicking is especially useful when typing in French because I'm a little slower anyway and it's an instant spelling/conjugation/vocabulary reminder - which is awesome.

I'm usually not speed typing, so I seem to have developed a typing speed that allows me to go along with the rhythm of the flick. The prediction can seem a little slow if I'm in a hurry, so perhaps slightly quicker predictions would be good, but I think it's great for the most part. I have two languages on the keyboard, and I have noticed my typing slows down when it guesses a word in one language when I'm using the other. It's all good though.

I love it when I type in French as it gives me the accents.
It is also very easy for long words.

No more reboots. I love my Z10 again.

I do my best to flick while I'm typing as much as I can. Sometimes I forget to and start typing one letter at a time, but for the most part, my typing has gotten so much easier and the keyboard is almost intuitive about which word is to be typed next.
