If I extracted the bar files from an autoloader and put it on my z10 will the bar files with updated data automatically be in effect? I heard others say you'd have to do a soft rest or something that line.

What you are describing can't be done. You can extract individual apps from an autoloader and side load those bars, but not the core OS itself. The only way to load that is by running the autoloader.
