Default How do I know if I'm using wifi or data plan with my z10?

Apologies for what probably seems like a dumb question.

Do I have to manually turn off my cell network when connected to a wifi network? Or does it use the wifi for browsing, app downloads, etc, automatically when the phone shows it's connected to a wifi network?

On your home screen, when you are on Wi-Fi, the "LTE" or "4G" label next to your signal strength meter should be off. If it is on then you are on cellular data, not Wi-Fi.
    BlackBerry Z10 (10.1.0.273) + BlackBerry Bridge (3.0.9.11) + BlackBerry PlayBook 64GB Wi-Fi (2.1.0.1526) = Awesome!

Not a dumb question at all. I was wondering the same thing. Thanks.

In addition to this, most carries preloaded "Your Account" apps to track your usage. When using wifi, frequently check your account to make sure the "Internet Data" numbers aren't changing

I wouldn't think it would be possible? I can't imagine how a feature like this could be programmed and then displayed.

In any case, the Z10 is a data hog like all the other smartphones (not so smart).

I went from 100MB/ month to 500 since I got it, with marginally more browsing than before on my 9900 with BES and BIS. Using Activesync means now that the messages and attachments are always downloaded to your device, whereas before, you had to click the attachment to download it.

Don't worry, your z10 will always use wireless connection whenever you're connected to a wireless network unless you app specially need a mobile network connection.

If you turn off data services from mobile network, you won't be able to do MMS etc, but text messages should be fine. In this case, MMS is an app requires data services from your mobile connection.

On my z10 it displays the wifi logo on the top line of the homepage, it's in white and it disappears when I leave wifi coverage.

    Hope that helps.

Whoa, are you serious? Are you sure about that? What does that mean when roaming? Can any power users/regular international travellers answer this conclusively? This is major if true and a MAJOR mistake by BBRY!!!!!

Are you positive about this on Z10? That is not how iOS mail app or Windows Phone mail app work. Attachments are only downloaded when you tap the attachment to view it. There is also a message size limit configurable on the mail server. So very long messages occasionally are truncated and show a banner at the bottom you can tap to download the complete message.

If you go to the Hub settings, then Display and Actions you can set "Download Images Automatically" to off. This was the default on my Z10.
