If I use the Z10 for a long time the handset becomes hot. Anyone know why and is there a way to stop it.

It is not just with the Z10. Any phone being used for a long period of time will become hot. From my Nexus 4 to my iPhone 5. Its just that the processor is constantly working and it needs to release the heat.

I think it cannot really be stopped.
Had iphones, and 5 blackberry's , all of them where heating up if i was browsing , playing games for about one hour...
Phones just become so thin, even if they just heat up a little you can feel it.

Not because i'm a bbry fan , but my iphone 4s could get reallllyyyy hot.
    Although battery life was fine.
So if you battery keeps u the good work , i should not worry.

Mine ran super hot when I first got it. After reading some tips here about charging the phone up and then letting it run almost dead about 3 times, and shutting off any radios that aren't being supplied the service (eg: I'm not in an LTE area so turn that off so it doesn't hunt for it), the phone cooled right down, I can use for extended lengths now and it barely warms up at all.

Normal usage does not cause the BlackBerry Z10 to feel warm. Playing games, constant scanning and connecting to LTE and / or WiFi, as well as background synchronization of social media applications are usually associated with increased battery warmth.

That depends on the volume of an individual's "Normal" usage. Personally the device heats up quite a bit during normal usage. But normal usage includes browsing. Cb10, file transfers, and BBM with groups and individuals.

That's not "normal" usage. Normal would be what the average person does.

Its normal usage for me. Normal is a bad term. Average would be better. Under average circumstances (<100 sms/BBM a day. <3mb usage a day) it won't heat up that much.

The thinness of the device like many products out in the market you will experience the feel of the heat, but its around 40-45C and that's fine as my Samsung galaxy s3 was usually this hot from running games and browsing and so forth and my iphone 4 as well, but those two devices you not feel it in your hand as much.

The Z10 most get case anyways and whn you do, you won't feel the heat.

By the way its not HOT, but very warm and is normal, think about your laptop or your home computer, they run in those temps or MORE if overclocked every day when using apps and games.
