I'll keep it short. My Z10 which I bought in March worked great, had a few OS issues but we're resolved through official updates from BB. But last night, my Z10 died. No red LED, it isn't recognized by any computer, there is no life in it. I took it to a few places and no luck. Future shop will gladly replace it for me with a new Z30 which is great BUT, that isn't the issue...
I had moved files from my 2gb SD card over to my Z10 built in hard drive, just to clear some space on the SD card. Some of those files were FIVE years old. Pictures, songs, videos, memos, every imaginable file type from yesterday all the way back to 2008, are gone. I have contacted bb answer Telus tech support but obviously they don't want to suggest anything "improper", so of course plugging it into a computer or switching the battery are the only suggestions they have.

I would be totally willing to pay someone to extract my files for me. From what I can tell, a power source must be connected directly to the circuit board of the Z10 to power it up. I realize this would void the warranty, but I don't care. A new Blackberry is a few hundred dollars, but the memories in these lost files are priceless.
I don't have enough tech knowledge to try this myself. If someone here is confident in their tech saviness and think they could get my files back, PLEASE let me know in a comment or personal message or anything.

And no, I did not backup my Z10 recently so there is no point in reloading my backup onto a new device.

    Thanks in advance

Stop using your SD card immediately - pop it into a microSD reader or another device with mass storage mode. Look for some data recovery trials (from the manufacturer website...avoid the messy websites full of porn links) and run them on the card. If it finds the files you need, you should be able to purchase the recovery program and get the files back. I've used R-Tools in the past, but I believe there are cheaper options. I can't attest to their abilities though, and different programs seem to react differently to the various medium types and file systems.

This depends on the possibility that the "empty" spaces where those files used to be have not been reused for other files. Once you start moving files on the SD card, your chances of recovery lessen.

As for recovering from the phone itself, if the mainboard is fried, it is extremely difficult to do. Before following any of the following instructions, confirm that your warranty will still be valid afterwards (i.e., that they acknowledge the fault was pre-existing and disassembly for the purpose of data recovery will not void the warranty afterwards). If you have some Torx screwdrivers handy (I believe you need a T4 and possibly a T2; double-check with the YouTube disassembly videos), take the phone apart and remove all ribbon connectors you find. This should remove the possibility of a faulty screen or shorted out connector keeping the mainboard from booting up. If you're lucky, your computer will be able to read your files with a bare mainboard and a battery held in place on the contacts.
