I have been an OS7 user for two years and like it for communications but it is a little lacking for entertainment. I have become so used to it that I need to have certain apps available for the Z10 to make the change. These are the apps I really need :

    1) Call Me Later (automatically sends an SMS if I miss a call)
    2) Templates Anywhere (allows me to store and send often used texts (business address etc))
    3) Password Lock (to lock emails and texts)
    4) Advanced OS and LED: Duration of notification LED can be controlled (1,2,5 hrs etc)

If anyone can give me the names of apps for Z10 which will accomplish the above then I will surely buy a Z10. If not then I will just stick to my OS7 phone. I don't mind paying for the apps. The apps should stay open and work all the time even after battery pull (I don't get this stuff about active frames, headless etc, it just leaves me feeling cold).

    Many thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about the rest but the first one is already built in to BB10. I hope others here can answer all your needs.

The 1st one is built in, the led and password locks are there and the os template may be there, I am not sure, but the other three things are there, but trust me, you can't go wrong, the z10 is an amazing device and will blow your mind

    Sorry my english.

Hi, for templates you can use Word subtitution.

    Example.

You type workdir and you get "your work direction". On the 2nd. Press spacebar

Also, if you buy a Z10, your best bet is to buy the stl100-3 model. You can grab one off ShopBlackBerry. Or try your best to find the stl100-3 elsewhere! Good luck, you won't regret BB10.

Is that really so? It sounds like these things are available! I get the word sub thing and I can manage that but please explain how to activate the other three. Can I lock the email and texts without locking the whole phone? (I have access to a Z10)

    Many thanks

You don't do battery pulls anymore with the Z10 by the way. You just do a simple restart (reboot) just like a PC

I wouldn't recommend an app with 2 star reviews...

Power Tools will do your custom LED notifications.

Hub++ does some of the things you want to do. Frankly the uptick in functionality of BB10 is much better than Legacy BlackBerry devices and OS's. Make the move to BB10, you won't regret it.

So basically it's not possible to have the apps I want (apart from the word sub thing).

The auto sms sending only works if the contacts are in ones address book (I get business calls from new customers who are not in my address book and if I miss their call I like a polite text to be sent)

The hub lock app above has terrible reviews and I would not go anywhere near it.

And the LED notification duration appears to be missing too.

So for the time being I cannot leave my OS7 phone, I really did want a Z10 but if it does not perform the functions I get at present I cannot buy it.

Other than hub lock... you should be able to get all the other functions.

No, Power Tools does it. I'm using that feature.

Well I decided to give it a try and am expecting delivery of a Z10 later this week. I will try it for a month to give myself time to change. I hope I can grow to like it and make it do all my OS7 phone does and more.

    Thanks for your advice people!
