They are one and the same. I hear "Flight Mode" mostly in North America and "Airplane Mode" in Europe, perhaps they have OSs that are geared more to one market than the other. There is absolutely nothing to be concerned about.

yes, and the Z10 is no longer in production, they're shifting current stocks around. so it could very well be one was returned from europe while the other was in north america

It still is nothing to worry about, just different titles for the same function.

North America. T-Mo. Bought on first day of release. Mine says: "Airplane Mode". Saw a Singtel Z10 manual that showed "Flight Mode" on a Z10. You should go to Singapore and raise hell. And BTW, which phone model is the offending "flight mode" phone?

Think of how much more versatile "Flight Mode" is. With "Airplane Mode", you have to be in an airplane. You can use "Flight Mode" no matter how you're flying: airplane; glider; falling off a cliff; crack. You can even use it when running away from someone who's trying to hurt you!

lol. Im guessing its probably not different software, perhaps one was set up as ""english UK" and the other "English US" during the first boot startup

I'm sure that is it. I'm using English US and my Z10 says Airplane Mode.

To the OP, does one also say "Flashlight" while the other says "Torch"?

That would also be the difference between U.S. English and U.K. English.

I'm in the UK and have the official OS. I've got Flight mode. It wouldn't say "airplane" over here as that's an American word, it may say "Aeroplane" as that is what Britons say.

Next, we'll have a "colors" and "colours" thread.

(Although, that word actually does not appear very often in the OS, it is in "Hub management".)
