Default Has anyone noticed their Z10 takes waaaaaay longer to charge than any previous BBerry?

As the title of my post says... I have noticed that my BB Torch 9800 charges fully in under an hour, yet my new Z10 can take upwards of 2 hours to charge fully! That is a big difference... Anyone else notice this?

And what size was the battery in your Torch?

Well yeah...given that the Z10 battery is 1800 mAh whereas the Torch batteries were ~1300 mAh, it is going to take longer to charge with the standard (750mA) charger. No surprises there.

I wonder what is the charging rate of the z10 charger... If it is the same as bbos devices this would explaing the longer charging because the z10 battery I'd 1800mah whereas older bb'd were 1100mah - 1500mah...

AFAIK rapid chargers do not decrease charging time unless you are using your device while it's being charged.

By the way, how long does it take to have the Z10 fully charged from 0%?

I had the torch 9800 before this phone. Z10 charges way faster. I know that does not make much sense, but it does.

From 10% it takes about 2 hrs using the playbook 1.8a charger and from 20% about 1 1/2 hrs.

No longer then any phones i previously owned look in my signature.

The standard Charging cable that comes with the Z10 is only 750ma basically HALF the amount of the PB 1.8a charging cable, so go pick one up if you don't have one.

Here is the wall charging cable for playbook 1.8a, same for Z10 http://ca.crackberry.com/blackberry-...5A17A11016.htm

I even have this car charging cable for playbook 1.8a, same for Z10 http://ca.crackberry.com/blackberry-...r/5AA11480.htm

I have tried the PlayBook charger on my Z10 and it took an hour to charge from red. However, I also noticed that it drained faster (not sure if this was because I had it on automatic selection from 3g to LTE) .

Also, doesn't an 1.8A charger affect the battery life overall compared to a regular 700mA one?

If you have playbook, try to charge with PlayBook charger. Or if you have power bank with 1A output, try to charge Z10 with it.

It seems that 700mAH is not good enough to charge Z10.

PlayBook charger FTW. I believe the charging / media stand comes with that one, too.

I have not opened the supplied charger. I have a rapid charger for the playbook, so i have used the original playbook charger for my z10 since day one. Doesn't seem any slower than my old phone, and lasts all day. (work day, slightly less use)

Nope the playbook charger is also listed for teh Z10 the 1.8a charger will charge the phone 2x as fast as the 700-750 one that comes with the Z10, read my post i made earlier in this thread.

As for draining faster, nope i get same amount of hours from it 12-14hrs working hrs all day long.

I bet it is because your using LTE service or its hitting LTE service and LTE will use a lot more power, there is no LTE in my area only 4g.

Ok sorry buddy, guess I hit a nerve. Obviously the bigger battery will take longer, I guess I just assumed / had faith that my phone would come with an appropriate charger to charge the device in a reasonable time, which is a hour or less like every other phone I've ever had. As for everyone else with constructive comments thanK you, I decided to purchase a rapid charger to hopefully solve my issues.

Actually I find that it does take a VERY long time to charge my new Z10. Maybe that's because I've never had it to a full 100% charge yet since getting it...

But I find with my PlayBook charger I can leave it plugged into the charger and if I'm using the phone (non LTE, not watching videos or downloading anything or talking on the phone, just playing with the new interface) the battery level actually goes down. It does go up if I just leave the phone in the on position but very slowly. Last night I was trying to drain the battery as I've heard from another Z10 user that if you drain it right down and charge it right up the battery life is fantastic, eventually when it got to 20% I powered the phone off and then left it charging and when I woke up 8 hours later and turned it on it was only at 80% charge. 60% charge in 8 hours?!

This is a real issue. Maybe it is my individual phone but this thing does take literally forever to charge. When I showed up at work today I have turned it off again and left it on a USB charger at my desk, 3+ hours and the LED is still lighting orange. That's like 8 hours with the Playbook charger plus 3h on a computer USB charge.

Anyone else noticed this with a new Z10? Will this go away once I've finally gotten it to 100%? Is the advice to drain the battery right down and then charge it right back up of any use? (I know it's a Lithium Ion battery which shouldn't have a memory, its possible that this is an old wives tale so I'm only wondering if anyone has done it and noticed the difference, I know the theory)
