Well I got the update when it was released last week and upgraded to .82

Now after reading the forums about getting further updates to get my STL to change from 100-1to 100-2 by getting a foreign sim card. Well I actually own a active sim card from Vodafone in Ireland.

So I tried and poped the sim card in my phone, went to setting and hit the software update update and it stated I have the latest software installed.

So I took a step further and went to the Web and did the software Web update route and it prompted me that there is a new software available for my phone.

So I accepted the upgrade file and allowed the download to start, once the download completed it requested for me to allow the the ios to install.

As one would do, I accepted and left it to do its thing, keep in mind my mistake here was this was all done on a MAC!

So after about 10 min I noticed my Z10 just flashing its red light and on the screen I had an error message " the file update could not be loaded, as the phone disconnected during the upgrade"

Meaning: My Z10 is now officially Bricked also known as Locked.

No matter what I did, it would turn on, and the red light just kept flashing.

So what do I do? I need my Z10 back working LOL luckily I love challenges :-)

So I searched the net looking for a way to get the Z10 back into safe mode so I can restore it back to factory settings :-)

Yes! You can just like an i-phone you can do that.

All you need is a windows operating system not a MAC

    BlackBerry link pc suite

    The cable provided

I will save you all time and effort in looking for the steps on how to do it, simply click on the following link:

Now, the question that still runs in my mind. The mistake I did was upgrade using a MAC, I wonder I try the same process using Windows? Will it be successful?

But the whole point of all this that I am trying to understand is this, what will I gain from the upgrade really? I mean I still have no clue what STL - 100 - 1 and STL - 100 - 2 will give me and is it really in a software patch update?

The difference between the two is in the order of hardware not software. Stl 1 only gets 3g whilst Stl 2 gets lte. Also Stl 1 is not running the snapdragon cores but some other cores.

There just might be some truth to it as in my box of stl100-2 there was a small pamphlet of snapdragon whereas one stl100-1 user confirmed there was no snapdragon pamphlet in his box. Can anyone using stl100-1 confirm this.

Could you point me in the direction of where you found the information on changing from STL100-1 to STL100-2?
I have an STL100-1 device and I've been told that it's not possible.
My carrier has already pushed the software update
    Software Release: 10.0.10.82
    OS Version: 10.0.10.648

You cannot change between STL100-1 and STL100-2. They are physically different models.
As far as I know you are running the latest version of the software for your device type. *.90 is for STL100-2 and *.85 for
    STL100-3

Well ya, if you read the post I quoted, you'll see why I asked that.
There seems to be a bit of debate over weather you will be able to have LTE functionality on STL100-1 devices

I could've used this leak 10 days ago lol. But is it still a leak given that a lot of z10 users on Stl 1 already have the update? (India Philippines australia)
