Great day with HD Audio, BlackBerry Maps, and BBM Video with Screen Share.
In the last 24 hours, I have been impressed by my Z10.
It started when I made a call to my business partner. This was done over Rogers here in Winnipeg. Immediately I noticed the clarity. He was jingling his keys and I could hear it like I was in the room. Voice has more highs and lows. Since I had been reading about this in the forums I took my phone away from my ear and looked at the screen. Yup, sure enough, there is was....HD Audio logo next to the call information.
It does make a huge difference. Doesn't seem to work between carriers though as I tried with a Telus Z10 user and didn't get the same icon.
Also tried to a Samsung GSIII and it didn't light up either.
Next, I had to make a quick run to pick something up at an address that I didn't know.
Was a great chance to use BB Maps. I put in the address I needed to go to, GPS was locked on right away, hit the start, and off I went. It tracked very accurately, gave me plenty of voice prompts, and though the screen is simple, it conveys all the information necessary and got me where I needed to go. I even missed a turn to watch it recover and I was given correct directions immediately. As an included app, I am impressed.
Later that day, my friend with his Z10 on the Telus network gave me a BB Video call. We were both on our carrier connections for a while and the frame rates were good, but once in a while audio would lose quality. We then switched over to wifi, talked for a couple hours while screen sharing and going over information. Flawless. Turning both cameras to landscape switches correctly, and audio was perfect throughout the whole call.
I just finished a one hour BBM Video call with one of my friends that works for BlackBerry in Waterloo and even he was impressed during the call at how smooth it all was.
This is what I am doing with a device that has been on the market for just over a week.
Updates are coming. Probably one within the next two weeks from what I was told today.
Hopefully that fixes up the quirks like losing my notification and phone call sound after using Bluetooth.
Other than that.....I can't complain. Each day I am more impressed with my smartphone.
