Default google and yahoo sync for Z10 (email and calendar and contacts)

Okay, I spent an evening to finally get this to work. I am in Canada and on Rogers. I have google and yahoo email and calendars on the go. Initially I couldn't get either to sync properly, using the default "add account" where you just type in the password and userid. Email worked but calendars could be added from the website but adding events on the Z10 would NOT appear on the google or yahoo calendar.

For google, go to "add accounts". Then press on the space bar if the keyboard is there until it disappears. At the bottom of the screen is "Advanced". Click on that. Select "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync" (this step is essential!). Enter any description. Enter m.google.com in the Domain field and then your full email address under username and email. Enter your password and then m.google.com in the Server Address field. Set the next line to 443, SSL to On, VPN to Off, Push ot On and then finally "Next".

For yahoo, don't go to the Advanced setting and enter your email and password as per usual. You will find that your email will work properly but your calendar won't. For the calendar, go to the Advanced setting and use the CalDav option, where you enter in an arbitrary name, your yahoo email and password BUT the server address is https://caldav.calendar.yahoo.com.

You may have to restart the device but after this, your emails and calendars should all work properly. Making changes either on the computer through the website or through your phone should update properly on both.

Question, I have a @rogers.com email which is actually run by yahoo. I have the email setup up on my phone, but I can't get it to push. Is there a setting that I'm missing? I set it up just by entering my address and password and it gives me an option to use push if its supported but I can't get it to actually push. Should I have set it up using advanced?

    The server address is: rim.imap.mail.yahoo.com
and the smtp server address is: rim.smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Any suggestions? Or am I just stuck with this for @rogers.com accounts?

    Thanks

ActiveSync no longer works for non GAPPS accounts.

It has to be IMAP/CalDav now

There are existing threads on this. Google has discontinued Google Sync via Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) for free Google Apps / Mail / Gmail accounts at the end of January 2013. If you were already using it, you can continue using it for now. EAS from Google is still available for paid Google Apps accounts.

Feel free to try to integrate your account using EAS but keep in mind that it probably won't work.
