I downloaded Vivino the wine app this morning. Its an Android port as far as I know. It scans wine bottle labels and looks up the details. I installed it but hadn't tried it.

Was out for dinner with 10 people (business) and I was enjoying the wine we were having and remembered the app and figured I would try it out. It opened up a viewer and with no flash took a picture that was basically black. The guy next to me and I both agreed that it wasn't going to work. Instantly it came up with the match and all the info. I was blown away.

Guy across the table says loudly "google has been doing that for years!" and demanded the bottle. On came his obnoxious flash and he proceeded to scan it. Waited ...waited....then I see him going to put the phone away with no answer. I pressed him (he works for me) and he turned the phone to face me...it came up with.....women's shoes.

I suspect he didn't know what he was doing but still........Smug.

I have this app too buy haven't used it yet. Glad to hear it works well! I used the lcbo one on my old iphone quite a bit.

Is Vivino still working for you? I got exactly 2 photos out of it before it stopped processing images from the camera. If I take the photo it jumps to the preview page which ends up blank. Odd.. Hopefully there is an update that plays a bit nicer, this is a pretty cool app I just seem to be struggling with it.

Similar story here but with an iPhone 4S user. Today one of my friends got a henna tattoo on her hand and asked me to take a picture with my "new" phone. So, as soon as I was about to take a picture, my friend with the iPhone goes "thats a crackberry", my camera is better, let me take the picture. My friend with the Tattoo asked both of us to take a picture for us to compare. Not going to lie, I was kinda affraid, knowing that iPhone 4S camera is decently good. When we compared the picture, all 5 of our other friends agreed that the Z10 picture was better. My friend with the iPhone 4S tried to blame the lighting eventhough they were taken under the same conditions, and eventually gave in! #TeamCrackberry

Follow up, uninstalling and reinstalling worked for me. But now it crashes as it processes the picture. Annoying but it does remember what it was doing so I can re-open it and then there is an entry for what I was scanning. Which is further than I got earlier tonight and helps out my alcoholism.

This is an Android port so there may be issues at times... YMMV...

I just downloaded it on my Z10. Looks like a neat app. thanks OP!

Also, most wine labels now have a QR code. You can simply scan the code with the BB QR scanner and get your info from there.

I downloaded the free app and it asked for permission to access all my personal files. This is no go for me. I wonder if paid app would do the same. I've you bought it please let me know. Thanks.
