Recently upgraded to a Z10 on AT&T and of course you cannot access "network mode" with AT&T (already had to waste time just getting them to provide access to manual carrier selection for international travel ease). In some countries I travel to I find I have better service using Edge or 3G vs LTE, etc so I want to be able to drop down the connection manually as needed.

With my old 9800 I could achieve this in the engineering screens easily enough but the new BB10 screens are slightly different. Does anyone know if it is possible to force the band used through those screens and if so what the setting changes are? Or is it ultimately that the model "3" Z10 provided by AT&T I have just has no option to control this in any way other that the built in logic?

Thank for any input you might have...

Wow....why would they disable that? I travel too and I just assumed that was "Standard equipment "

Amazing how many differences there are between carriers on this phone.

Yes - it is already confirmed AT&T does not have this option so no speculation needed - I want to know if the engineering screens can circumvent this and if so how because the escreen options are different from older BB OS6 where I used to do this with an AT&T BB9800.

That must be very irritating. Stuff like this load of bollocks goes a long way to explain why the US leeches..er..carriers take long to release anything. Rewriting dome of the gui just to take away that option it the definition of a big brother like control freak.

It's even worse because LTE takes its toll on my battery, and even more so when it's always trying to find an LTE signal.

Same reason AT&T locks down Bridge and 90% of everything else it does; to get its customers to pay for services they don't need. In this case it's so that you use more data and either upgrade your plan or pau them overage charges.

It really is an atrocity as Forcing LTE can be a battery drain. There are multiple times a day when dropping down to HSPA+ would be more ideal than staying on a one-bar LTE connection.
