Thought this was a great deal. Selling for 379.99!! Even better if you got the email with the 60.00 visa card code in it.

*** EDIT: THERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT WHETHER THE MERCHANT IS SENDING OUT STL100-1s WHILE CLAIMING TO SEND STL100-3s! SOME CB MEMBERS HAVE REPORTED THIS.. STILL UNCLEAR IF THIS IS A MISTAKE OR IF THE COMPANY IS TRYING TO SCAM PEOPLE.

If they were honest about it being the 100-1.. But they claim it is the 100-3.. I am hoping this is a mistake.. and the above poster gets their rightful 100-3.. Lucky for ebay buyer protection if the seller is not accommodating.

Oh that's ugly. If it's a 100-1 that's not good.... no LTE support at all.

Worse, if you're on T-Mobile I don't think it will connect to their HSPA+ network either as if I recall correctly it lacks the AWS band!

Actually, they claim it's the AWS-enabled (LW suffix) STL100-3 from the frequency list they have on the eBAY listing. I was rather curious about this myself because as far as I know that particular submodel was not produced in white (Verizon got the exclusive on the white one in the US, and I don't think the LW was sold internationally) -- so something appeared to be off.

I was considering buying one as a second device to use for the purpose of loading leaks and such, then eventually giving it to my kid or similar when that need was retired.

I'm glad I didn't. I'd be roaring pissed if I ordered it and got a STL100-1 instead. That device isn't worth anywhere near $380 given the limitations in the US market, particularly if you're on T-Mobile as a carrier, as it will not connect to T-Mobile's HSPA+ service (no 1700 AWS band.) As such you're going to have EDGE-only (2G!) service on that device on T-Mobile.

It looks like BuyDig got their hands on a distributor's close-out of the STL100-1 devices; this settles the question as to whether this "sale" indicates that BlackBerry is losing the Z10 marketplace entirely (no), whether there is a carrier dumping them entirely (not evidenced by this act) and whether you should jump on this deal (definitely NOT if you're in the United States, as you're buying a crippled device!)

Is it a good deal if you're outside the US? Maybe, if you are in a place where no LTE service will appear for the next several years AND you have existing HSPA or HSPA+ on one of the four bands it supports. In that case it's not a bad deal.

    But only in that case.

The STL100-3 is the version being sold on Rogers, Telus etc. In Canada in both white and black. I have a STL100-3 white import on T-mobile. The difference in the two STL100-3 varients is only software related and once the phone is unlocked the block on the AWS Band is lifted. My unlocked STL100-3 RFF91LW imported from Canada works with AWS 4G on T-mobile.

So, the white STL100-3 is made basically.. it's just not sold by carriers in the US.

I can vouch that z10 STL100-1 still connects to 4G network on T-Mo. I am connected to 4G on T-Mo on STL100-1 that buydig sent me. However, I am contacting buydig cuz I didn't buy it expecting it to be non-lte device

Shake: That's surprising -- where are you?

T-Mobile bought MetroPCS as I'm sure you're aware. The "official" STL100-1 frequency listing does NOT show AWS as an available band (split-frequency HSPA.)

If it works on HSPA+ that's good, but even so that it's not a -3 model is uncool.

As for the Rogers device is it a RFF91 or RFK121? If the RFF91 it should NOT work on AWS bands. T-Mobile's deployment of HSPA and HSPA+ prior to the MetroPCS service was all on the split-frequency AWS band. They are now, from what I've been told, re-aligning to use the 1700 frequency for LTE and moving their HSPA+ service.

We just recently got lit for some LTE service here in this local area; I haven't yet figured out whether they moved the HSPA+ frequencies here or not, but they were definitely on AWS as of about a year ago as I tried to use an unlocked AT&T device on it which I knew didn't have AWS and it couldn't talk to the towers for HSPA.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I inserted my T-Mo sim and it picked up 4G. However when I couldn't get LTE, I checked at the model version and was shocked to see STL100-1. Even though Its connected to HSPA+ its not LTE and I bought it believing it is going to be STL100-3 model. I have contacted Buydig, so lets see what their response is going to be.

It looks like from your chart the STL100-1 might be connecting to the 1900 3G/4G that T-mobile has begun to deploy in some areas... but it cannot pick up the more widespead 1700 3G/4G. I am still baffled that the company would do this while claiming it is an STL100-3...

As for the STL100-3. Yes technically only the RFK121LW should get the AWS T-mobile 3G/4G BUT what was found out during the time period before the US launch was that the RFF91LW (Currently what Rogers/most Canadian carriers/AT&T use) when unlocked also had the AWS capability. It was theorized that the difference between these two variants was a software one and not a hardware one. Once the phone was unlocked there was basically no difference between a RFF91LW and a RFK121LW.

This is why my white unlocked Rogers RFF91LW is able to get the more widespread T-Mobile AWS 3G/4G.
