The Dutch police force, starting next year, will be equipped with nearly 30,000 BlackBerry devices to aid them in keeping the public safe and identifying suspects. Inside police stations, kiosks will provide the most modern BlackBerry technologies that help police deliver quicker identification of wanted suspects and repeat offenders.

Very small step but a step forward nonetheless. BlackBerry really need to hurry with the 10.2 updates so people embrace the OS more.

OK, in my line of work I've dealt with Biometrics a bit. How is a BB gong to help ID suspects? And what is meant by a kiosk?

If I read the short article from the website from the Dutch police they state that the Dutch police has several ID-kiosks, where the identification from suspects is registered into a national database. They also state that policemen will be able to login over the air by using BlackBerry devices into that database, enabling to identificate suspects 'on the spot.' That is it actually...

Why this is not being released via a Blackberry Press Release is beyond me!

They brought out a press release when Canadian Tire ordered 2000 devices and they don't annonce this! I don't get Blackberry's Marketing strategy!

it doesnt matter that they are getting 30 000 devices... because http://forums.crackberry.com/news-ru...kberry-817832/ means that 250 devices are being dropped.

    250! OH NO.

    Sketchy.

BB wasted no time issuing a press release when law firm Bubba Gump bought 500 devices.

If true, this deal would be 60X larger. Where's the press release?

Maybe when the law agencies actually purchase the devices, BlackBerry will issue a press release?
What if they say they will now, and then something happens and they end up not doing it...
